About us

Smallpdf was founded in 2013 with one simple belief: working with documents shouldn’t be complicated. Today, we’re an industry leader in digital document solutions, trusted by millions of users across 195+ countries. We build intuitive, powerful tools that help individuals and businesses work smarter with their documents. From compressing and converting files to editing and e‑signing, our platform makes complex document workflows simple, secure, and accessible.

As a product‑led company headquartered in Switzerland and powered by a diverse, global team from 35+ countries, we combine product excellence with a strong focus on user experience, data‑driven decision‑making and continuous innovation. We operate at the intersection of simplicity and performance, building scalable solutions that power everyday productivity for individuals and businesses alike. Our team is driven by ownership, experimentation and a shared commitment to delivering meaningful impact at scale.

About

the role

Over 60 million people use Smallpdf every month to do one thing: compress a file, convert it, translate it, merge it. Our core tools are freemium and SEO‑led: people find us through Google and, more and more, through AI assistants. They finish the job and leave.

As Product Manager for our core tools, you make that single task the fastest, easiest and best on the market, so search engines, AI assistants and people send users back. You own the individual tools end to end. Together with our growth team, you work on the channels that bring people to them: organic search, paid search and AI search. You work in Zurich with a fully staffed product team, including an EM, a designer and engineering counterparts, and closely with our SEO, growth and marketing teams.

Responsibilities
  • Own the individual tools end to end: upload experience, processing, output quality, download
  • Work with our SEO, SEM and growth teams on how people reach the tools, including positioning with marketing so people remember us by name
  • Help turn AI search and LLMs into a real acquisition channel, from first users to a tracked source of traffic
  • Ship AI features where they help users, with a clear process for accuracy, cost and quality before launch
  • Design, monitor and analyse experiments on millions of sessions, and ship, iterate or kill on the result
  • Run deep analyses and user research yourself, and be the voice of the user in every decision
  • Set the strategy and roadmap for your area from user feedback, data and business goals, with a commercial case, cost and outcome metrics for every bet
  • Align engineering, design, SEO, growth, marketing and other product teams on what ships and why
  • Lead without authority: manage up with clear recommendations, settle ownership with peer teams, and present plans and results to leadership and the whole company
  • Raise the bar around you: help your team own product decisions, give and take honest feedback, coach others, and step outside the PM role when it moves the needle
About you
  • 6+ years in product management
  • Hands-on A/B testing experience on a product with real traffic
  • AI in your daily work: workflows, analysis, prototyping, research. You know where it goes wrong and you check it
  • Experience defining need & quality for an AI feature, or a clear view of how you would do it
  • Comfortable talking with engineers about trade-offs, speed, errors and estimations
  • Dynamic and hands-on: you make quick decisions based on real data
  • Comfortable with ambiguity: you find the problem worth solving when nobody has named it yet
  • Curious and rigorous: you dig into the data yourself until the answer holds
  • You run user research yourself, and bring what you learn into decisions
  • Commercially minded: you know what a feature is worth before you build…
