Manufacturing Equipment Technician role supports advanced production equipment used to manufacture Coherent's semiconductor laser technologies. Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and assembling manufacturing systems to ensure high uptime and support continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of production equipment, including laser diode burn‑in and lifetime testing systems.
- Assemble, install, and commission manufacturing equipment used in semiconductor laser production.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and system‑related issues to minimize downtime.
- Manage maintenance activities and repair documentation within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Support the development and maintenance of spare parts inventory systems to ensure equipment readiness.
- Calibrate system components and verify equipment performance per manufacturing and quality requirements.
- Work closely with technicians and engineers to improve equipment reliability, process stability, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Support mechanical workshop activities, including equipment modifications, repairs, and fabrication work where required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment performance, uptime, and operational excellence.
- Completed vocational training in a technical discipline such as Automation Technology, Mechatronics, Polymechanics, Industrial Maintenance, Electronics, or a related field.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, production, industrial, or equipment maintenance environment.
- Hands‑on experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex production systems.
- Strong technical understanding with the ability to diagnose and solve equipment‑related issues across multiple disciplines.
- Practical, hands‑on approach with a genuine interest in mechanical and technical work.
- Knowledge of pneumatics, cooling systems, or industrial automation is advantageous.
- Experience using CMMS and basic Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to learn new technologies and become proficient with complex manufacturing equipment.
- Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset to work effectively within a close‑knit technical team.
- Fluent German and basic English language skills.
