Opportunity

Hands‑on Robotics Lab Technician Intern for a 6‑month period to support our engineering team with hardware maintenance, troubleshooting, and lab organization. The role focuses on the physical upkeep and operational readiness of our robotics systems and testing environment, ideal for students or technical trainees seeking direct experience with robotics hardware.

ANYbotics’ four‑legged platform, ANYmal, is designed to navigate complex industrial environments autonomously, performing inspections and data collection in places that are too dangerous or difficult for humans. Our team of more than 200 people works on cutting‑edge robot technology in an agile, fast‑paced environment.

Your Impact
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair robotics hardware and subsystems before and after testing cycles
  • Build and maintain laboratory tools, infrastructure, and test benches to ensure optimal working conditions
  • Organize the laboratory space, manage component inventory and tools, and enforce safety protocols to maintain a clean, efficient workspace
  • Assist technical staff with the physical setup, wiring, and mounting of sensors and hardware testing rigs
  • Execute standard test protocols on robotics systems under the guidance of our engineering team
Your Profile
  • Student or trainee currently enrolled in a hands‑on technical program from a university, school of applied sciences, or a relevant vocational track
  • Strong practical mindset with a genuine interest in troubleshooting, repairing hardware, and working with your hands
  • Methodical and organized approach to maintaining a structured, tidy, and safe laboratory environment
  • Basic familiarity with electronics and sensors such as multimeters, wiring, and basic test equipment
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken, to collaborate effectively with our international technical team
Bonus Points
  • Prior experience working in a makerspace, university lab, or automotive/electronics workshop
  • Familiarity with Linux (Ubuntu) environment and basic command‑line interfaces
  • Basic soldering skills or experience with electrical crimping tools
Internship Details
  • Start date:

    any time of the year, always on the 1st of the month
  • Duration: 6 months
  • Workload: 100% (Full time, Onsite)
Eligibility

We are only able to consider applications from Schengen‑Area citizens (or any student enrolled at ETH and EPFL who require compulsory internship). For residents outside of Switzerland, you will have to find your own accommodation in order to apply for the L or B work permit.

  • EU applicants: internship can be voluntary; a work permit is not required but a residence permit is necessary; must be enrolled in a university.
  • Non‑EU applicants: internship must be mandatory (supported by a letter from a university); a work permit is required; must reside in Switzerland.
