Staff Research Scientist in charge of research into wheat and soybean quality
Agroscope is the Swiss federal centre of excellence for research in the agriculture and food sector. Its researchers work at a number of sites in Switzerland and are attached to the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER).
Agroscope is closed during the Christmas period – no applications will be processed from 20 December 2025 to 4 January 2026.
Responsibilities- In charge of the 'Cereals and Soybean Quality' Laboratory, analyses and results
- In charge of the legal task of the official quality inspection of wheat (and other cereals) in official variety trials
- Developing innovative tools and protocols for the analysis of wheat and soybean quality as well as efficient strategies for their incorporation into breeding programmes
- Managing, coordinating and motivating three technicians employed in the laboratory for post‑harvest wheat and soybean quality
- Setting up research projects and scientific partnerships; acquisition of third‑party funding
- Developing, planning and implementing the analyses and managing interactions with different partners
- Highly motivated researcher with a PhD in plant‑quality research, biochemistry, genetics, plant breeding, genomics, or plant biotechnology
- Hands‑on experience in biotechnology, genomics, bioinformatics and molecular biology
- National and international network in the research field
- Strong leader with good communication skills and a team spirit
- Proven experience in publishing in peer‑reviewed publications
- Excellent knowledge of two official Swiss languages and spoken and written English

In the 'Plant Breeding' Research Division, practical new wheat, soybean, fodder plant and fruit varieties are bred and the new traits and breeding tools required for this are researched and developed. New varieties must be economically successful, be capable of being cultivated in an environmentally friendly manner, and must deliver a high-quality product.
