Postdoctoral researcher in shared mobility
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join our team Transportation and Mobility Planning at the Institute for Transport Planning and Systems. For an externally funded lab, we are analyzing ride‑sharing, shared e‑scooter, and shared bicycle behaviour. We will analyze the data to understand the impacts of changes in supply and changes in the city on ridership (frequency, duration, location, etc.).
We will also look at different user segments, such as tourists and inhabitants, and compare their ridership. We will analyze existing GPS data, as well as collect own questionnaire data.
- Participating in the research project
- Contributions to teaching and examinations
- Authorship and publication of research papers
- Active participation in the research group
- Support acquisition of new research projects
(I) Requirements:
- Experience with analyzing GPS tracks
- Good data‑handling skills and ability to use R (compulsory) and preferably also Python and/or GIS competently
- Statistical/causal inference knowledge
- PhD degree in a related field of above‑average quality, or other research experience that would allow doing the work
- Ability to work in a team, problem‑solving skills and ability to self‑organize and take personal responsibility in the fulfillment of tasks
- Good communication skills, including excellent knowledge of spoken and written English
(II) Desired skills and qualifications:
- Familiarity with analysing travel behaviour data or urban mobility patterns
- Good German language skills (at least B2)
- Experience with collecting own data (e.g. questionnaires; measurements)
- Experience with developing networks with stakeholders and/or drafting policy recommendations
