Position: Intern in Sorbent Characterization (100%)
Location: Zürich

Responsibilities

  • Support the evaluation and development of sorbents and sorbent structures for DAC, gaining hands‑on experience in lab‑based testing, data analysis, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Collaborate within an integrated team to carry out lab‑based assessments, including adsorption characterization, accelerated lifetime testing, and process‑relevant evaluations of novel materials.
  • Investigate material stability by testing under accelerated aging conditions to simulate long‑term performance.
  • Characterize sorbent behaviour by measuring unary and binary isotherms under controlled conditions.
  • Work independently on targeted work packages to understand how material properties influence DAC performance.
  • Contribute to method development, refinement, and validation of experimental methods to ensure reliable and reproducible testing outcomes.
  • Validate, troubleshoot, and document work to ensure effective communication across interdisciplinary development teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or working towards a master’s degree) in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field.
  • Hands‑on laboratory experience, preferably with characterization of porous materials (e.g., N₂ adsorption, Hg porosimetry, DVS) and adsorption characterization (breakthrough testing).
  • Familiarity with CO₂ capture is beneficial but not required.
  • Eager to learn new concepts, skills, and tools needed to complete assignments.
  • Reliable, motivated, solution‑oriented, concise, and structured working style.
  • Available for a six‑month internship starting August 2026 (or shortly thereafter).
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of German or other languages is beneficial but not required.

  • Standardized salary based on market benchmarks: CHF 2,000 per month for BSc & MSc students; CHF 2,500 per month after completion of MSc.
