Position: Scientist (f/m/d) for Translational Cancer Immunotherapy 80-100%
Location: Zürich

The joined research activities at the Department of Medical Oncology and Hematology of the University of Zurich and University Hospital Zurich and the Department of Oncology of University of Zurich and the Children Hospital Zurich are directed towards translating innovative immunotherapies to the clinic in the framework of the NCCR children and cancer. In this position, the successful candidate will contribute to a translational project focused on understanding the immune landscape of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) after CAR T-cell therapy and on developing therapeutic strategies to overcome tumor microenvironment and metabolic-driven resistance.

The project combines patient-derived samples, single-cell and flow cytometry-based immune profiling, in vitro functional assays, and preclinical xenograft models to advance precision oncology approaches in cell therapy.

Your responsibilities
  • Project-specific experimental work on CAR T-cells
  • Processing and coordination of longitudinal patient-derived samples in collaboration with clinical partners
  • Design and execution of in vitro functional assays
  • Contribution to in vivo studies in established NSG xenograft models
  • Perform Immune profiling using single-cell RNA sequencing workflows
  • Data analysis, interpretation, presentation, and contribution to manuscripts, reports, and grant-related documents
  • General laboratory coordination, including ordering, organization of reagents, and maintenance of laboratory records and equipment
Your profile
  • A strong background in cancer immunotherapy, cell therapy, or translational tumor immunology
  • Hands‑on experience with primary human cell culture, T‑cell assays, and flow cytometry
  • Experience with molecular and cellular immunology methods; familiarity with single‑cell technologies and/or bioinformatic analysis is an asset
  • Experience with preclinical in vivo models is advantageous
  • Excellent organizational and scientific writing skills, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Very good communication skills in English
