PhD Position in Global Trade, Supply Chains and Climate Shocks
100% | Zurich | Fixed‑term (up to four years)
Job description- Assess and promote the resilience of supply chains by building and solving quantitative global equilibrium models of trade networks.
- Use firm‑level data to estimate industry/country‑level effects of various weather and climate shocks and incorporate the estimated impacts into the model.
- Leverage theoretical, computational, and econometric tools to study public policy questions related to the resilience of global supply chains to climate change.
- Conduct the doctorate within the doctoral program of D‑MTEC (Department of Management, Technology, and Economics) and complete it within four years.
- Primary supervision by Professor Hans Gersbach and Dr. Kieran Walsh.
- Salary in accordance with the PhD regulations of the Swiss National Science Foundation.
- Master’s degree in economics or finance (or in mathematics or statistics with completed economics coursework and preparation for intensive economics PhD training).
- Highly proficient in English.
- Proficient in MATLAB, Python, or Julia and willing to work in MATLAB.
- Prior coursework in trade theory and environmental economics a major asset.
- Experience with panel data econometrics beneficial.
