We are looking for an outstanding postdoctoral researcher with a strong quantitative profile and broad experience in data science, epidemiology, public/global health or related fields. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping an ambitious research agenda at the intersection of Gender Medicine, population health, clinical evidence generation and data analytics.

Your main tasks

You will lead and develop a portfolio of interdisciplinary research projects that investigate sex- and gender-related gaps and potential solutions in biomedical research, clinical evidence, disease burden, health outcomes and health policy.

Responsibilities include:
  • Develop high-impact research on sex- and gender-sensitive medicine, clinical evidence gaps, global disease burden patterns, and opportunities for research prioritization and health equity
  • Build and apply large-scale, reproducible data pipelines
  • Use advanced quantitative methods, potentially including epidemiology, biostatistics, causal inference, machine learning, natural language processing, large language models, bibliometrics/scientometrics and real-world evidence methods
  • Translate research findings into peer-reviewed publications, policy briefs, reports, conference presentations and stakeholder-facing outputs
  • Contribute to competitive grant applications and help establish a sustainable externally funded research program
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary collaborations within UZH, USZ and national and international partner networks across medicine, public health, data science, social science and policy
  • Mentor and supervise doctoral, medical, master's and research students
  • Contribute to teaching activities in Gender Medicine, public health, data science or related areas
  • Support open, transparent and reproducible science, including documentation, code sharing and responsible data governance
Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with scientific independence, intellectual curiosity and the ability to connect disciplines.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • A PhD, MD-PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in medicine, epidemiology, public health, global health, data science, computational social science, health economics, social sciences or a related quantitative health field
  • Postdoctoral or equivalent research experience, or an emerging profile demonstrating readiness to lead research projects
  • A strong publication record, including first-author publications or preprints in relevant fields
  • Excellent quantitative and data-science skills, including proficiency in R and Python and experience with reproducible research workflows
  • Experience working with large, complex or heterogeneous datasets, such as population health data, clinical data, registry data, bibliometric data, administrative data, survey data, or global health datasets
  • Strong interest in sex- and gender-sensitive medicine, health equity, public/global health and the translation of research into clinical and policy impact
  • Experience with grant writing, project coordination, stakeholder engagement or team leadership is highly desirable
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. German language skills are an asset but not required
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, interdisciplinary and clinically embedded research environment
Our offer

We offer a unique opportunity to help shape the research agenda of the Chair for Gender Medicine in Switzerland and to work at the interface of a leading university and one of Europe's major university hospitals.

You will join a young, dynamic and growing team with strong links to clinical medicine, public health, data science and international research networks.
