The Quantum Device Lab is looking for highly motivated Doctoral Students for the development of a superconducting qubit quantum network and research in quantum networking applications.
A team of researchers led by Andreas Wallraff from the Quantum Device Lab, at the Department of Physicsof ETH Zurich has developed a unique superconducting qubit system consisting of two dilution refrigerators equipped with superconducting qubit chips, separated by 30 meters, and connected through a cryogenic link. By exchanging microwave photons across the link, this system can generate remote entanglement between the separated chips as a resource for quantum information experiments and applications.
The platform has already enabled demonstrations including loophole-free Bell tests and randomness amplification.
We are now expanding the platform through advances in chip fabrication, packaging, networking protocols, and distributed control systems. These developments will enable research into further potential application areas of quantum networks, including loss‑tolerant photonic state transfer, distributed quantum computing and quantum error correction, blind quantum computing, and non‑local sensing. To ensure this project's success and fast progress, we are looking for highly motivated Doctoral Students in quantum networking with superconducting circuits.
