Lead Software Engineer

I am partnering with a deep-tech company building highly specialised computing technology where software operates close to the hardware. The company is entering a key scale-up phase and is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to own technical direction, guide a software team, and act as a senior technical interface to leadership.

This is not a pure application or web software role!

This role is suited to an experienced engineer who has spent a significant part of their career in low-level or embedded software environments

• Provide technical leadership to a software engineering team working on low-level / embedded systems
• Define and drive software architecture and technical strategy
  , particularly for hardware-adjacent software
• Own technical decision-making across embedded, systems, and performance-critical software components
• Coordinate team priorities, planning, and delivery across multiple technical work streams
• Act as a key technical point of contact for senior stakeholders (CTO, CEO, founders)
• Lead planning, documentation, and technical presentations (including slide-based work)
• Mentor and develop engineers, setting strong standards for robust, efficient, and maintainable code
• Maintain a hands‑on technical contribution (~10–20%), with focus on design, reviews, and complex problem‑solving

• Currently located in Switzerland or have the right to work in Switzerland.
• 10+ years professional experience in software engineering
• Strong background in low‑level, embedded, or systems software development
• Strong motivation to lead engineers and technical direction
  , not just remain an individual contributor
• Experience in a senior, lead, or staff-level role (formal people management is a plus, not mandatory)
• Confident communicator, able to explain complex low-level concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Comfortable spending the majority of time on technical leadership, coordination, and planning
