Senior Data Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our client's team in Zurich. You will join strong team, in a highly technical environment, based on Databricks/ Spark on Azure with most development in Python, and a strong focus on data processing, performance, scalability, reliability and platform capabilities. This is hands-on engineering role with strong feature ownership.

Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of complex technical features from requirements clarification and design through implementation, testing, rollout, and operational handover
• Design and implement scalable, production-grade data platform solutions
• Apply distributed computing and large-scale data processing fundamentals to solve performance, scalability, and reliability challenges -
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and contribute to engineering quality through reviews, documentation, and structured development practices
• Troubleshoot and optimize complex data processing workloads and production issues
• Contribute to technical design discussions and make pragmatic trade-offs around performance, maintainability, cost, and delivery timelines
• Break down complex or ambiguous technical topics into clear, actionable implementation steps
• Coordinate the design, implementation, testing, rollout, and communication needed for owned features

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer, data engineer, platform engineer
• Strong fundamentals in distributed computing, large-scale data processing, and scalable system design
• Hands-on experience building and operating production-grade solutions in cloud-based environments
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Scala, C#, or a comparable language
• Experience with large-scale data platforms or processing technologies such as Spark, Databricks, Flink, Kafka, Snowflake, Big Query, or similar
