AI Platform Engineer; f​/m​/d

As an AI Platform Engineer, you are part of the AI Enabling Team within Platform Developer Experience. The team’s mission is to enable AI-assisted engineering at Digitec Galaxus, from developer platforms to production AI tools and agents. You help build a strong knowledge foundation, including unified search and curated context, ensuring safe, efficient, and impactful use of AI.

Make AI-assisted engineering and agentic workflows a first-class citizen in our developer platform

Own central AI products (AI Registry, internal MCP Server, AI Chat) critical to company strategy, evolving them from side projects to production-grade services

Partner with platform teams to improve agent experience, and collaborate with the AI Guild to share feedback and best practices

Build guardrails for data privacy, security, and compliance

Create a curated catalog of approved AI tools to prevent shadow AI

Evolve AI infrastructure to enterprise-grade: introduce transparent cost monitoring, and build a flexible AI gateway with self-hosted model support

Establish benchmarks and evaluation frameworks to keep model choices data-driven, and curate internal knowledge for reliable AI agent consumption

• 2–5 years of Software Engineering experience
• Completed degree (university / university of applied science / higher technical college)
• Higher education in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, with several years of hands‑on experience building and operating production systems
• Strong software engineering fundamentals in a modern backend stack (e.g. Python, C#/.NET)
• Practical experience with modern AI tooling such as LLM APIs, agent frameworks, RAG, prompt and evaluation pipelines
• Familiarity with knowledge architecture concepts – semantic search, metadata graphs, retrieval pipelines, documentation tooling
• Solid platform and Dev Ops/MLOps mindset, covering containerization, CI/CD, cloud platforms (GCP / Azure), Infrastructure-as-Code, and observability
• Awareness of data privacy, security, and compliance considerations when working with AI tools and sensitive data, and the pragmatism to balance these with developer velocity
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset, enabling you to collaborate effectively with different stakeholders, and to drive topics forward
• Fluent English (mandatory), while German is an advantage
• A willingness to challenge how things have always been done and propose more efficient, automated or effective solutions
• Using creativity and initiative to solve problems and achieve goals
