Technical Lead, Software Development, Backend Developer

Responsibilities

• Design and development of scalable backend services in Java and their operation as containerized workloads on Kubernetes
• End-to-end responsibility for delivering features — from concept and design through implementation, review and release to production operations
• Technical leadership — together with the Product Architect and developers you set the technical direction and maintain focus on code quality, evolution of our technology stack, and reduction of technical debt
• Operational excellence — observability, security, performance and compliance according to the standards of a regulated financial environment
• Close collaboration with product, business and other engineering teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
• Hands‑on — you lead by example and contribute directly to the codebase

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, including substantial backend development in Java
• Several years of experience as a Technical Lead, including performing design and code reviews, coaching teams, and owning successful deliveries
• Solid practical experience with containerization (Docker) and production Kubernetes orchestration

Extensive experience designing, building and operating CI/CD pipelines (ideally Git Lab CI)
• Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems and cloud‑native design principles
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with product, engineering and business stakeholders
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience
• Fluent in German (minimum B2) and English (minimum B2)
• Willingness to work on‑site in Zurich at least 3 days per week
• Valid Swiss work permit and residence in Switzerland
