Work on the real-time control software of our normothermic perfusion platform. You will write the Structured Text and C/C++ code that keeps a human organ alive outside the body, software that runs in the OR, on devices used in surgical procedures, under IEC 62304. You will join a senior, interdisciplinary engineering team shipping software for an IDE submission in the United States, with EU MDR execution in parallel.
Whatyou will do
Work on the real-time control software of our normothermic perfusion platform.
- Contribute across the full software lifecycle under IEC 62304 - requirements, risk analysis, architecture, detailed design, implementation, testing, verification, validation, and documentation.
- Maintain existing systems and resolve software defects.
- Design and execute software tests — unit, integration, and system — to ensure quality and compliance.
- Keep product documentation aligned with regulatory and normative standards.
- Participate in and contribute to risk management activities.
- Collaborate directly with internal teams, suppliers, and clinicians.
- Participate in liver perfusion procedures, including inside the OR, where you will see your software keep a human organ alive in real time.
- You contribute Structured Text and C/C++ code to the production control software.
- You write test suites that support our IDE submission and EU MDR package.
- You participate in your first liver perfusion procedures.
- Master's in computer science or a related field.
- 5+ years in software design and development.
- Strong PLC programming in Structured Text (ST) using the Beckhoff TwinCAT environment.
- Working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink.
- Experience with GUI frameworks — TwinCAT HMI and/or Qt.
- Fluent English — our working language across the whole team.
- Authorization to work in Switzerland.
- Experience with IEC 62304 and the medical-device software lifecycle.
- Python, C, or C++.
- A verified proof point: our platform enabled the world's first multi-day human liver transplantation.
- FDA Breakthrough Device Designation, an active Early Feasibility Study path with leading US transplant centers, and EU MDR execution in parallel.
- Real engineering impact — your code runs on devices used in surgical procedures. Every full-time hire receives equity.
- A senior, interdisciplinary team of surgeons, perfusionists, engineers, scientists, and operators.
- Zurich, hybrid where the work allows. BVG pension, accident and illness insurance, and family-friendly leave.
- Our perfusion system is an investigational device and is not yet cleared or approved for commercial use.
