Job Overview
As an Onderofficier Constructiegenie (Force Support Engineer) you will lead a group of approximately ten soldiers within the Dutch Land Force’s Construction (Genie) units.
Your role focuses on enabling friendly forces to move freely, protecting them, and building critical infrastructure in combat and peace‑keeping operations worldwide.
Responsibilities
Command a team as a group leader, coaching and training soldiers for field assignments.
Plan, construct, and maintain roads, bridges, airfields, camps, and other engineering works.
Deploy and operate mine‑clearing, route‑clearing, and CBRN de‑contamination equipment.
Execute demolitions and sabotage operations to disrupt enemy positions.
Manage logistics, safety, and quality control during all construction projects.
Qualifications
Completion (or near completion) of a VeVa O&V level 3 programme.
Minimum physical fitness and successful completion of medical, psychological, and security assessments.
Strong technical and organisational skills, and the ability to improvise under pressure.
Proficiency in Dutch; knowledge of English is an advantage.
Benefits & Compensation
Monthly salary range: €3 300 – €3 650 (basic), subject to age, qualifications, and experience.
Annual bonus of €3 600 plus additional allowances.
Free driving licence acquisition if not already held.
Paid leave of 23 – 30 days per year (depending on age).
Additional structured and incidental allowances, and a yearly contractual bonus.
Work Locations
Units attached to the Operational Support Command Land (OOCL), the 13 Light Brigade in Oirschot, or the 43 Mechanised Brigade in Havelte. Training takes place at the Royal Military School in Ermelo and the Defence Training Centre Genie in Vught.
