Overview
De Genie is a military construction company of the Royal Land Army. Soldiers are responsible for building and destroying infrastructure, mine warfare, bridge and road construction, airfield facilities, shelters, observation posts, combat formations, and CBRN decontamination.
Responsibilities
Plan, construct, and demolish military infrastructure such as bridges, roads, airfields, shelters, observation posts, and camps.
Lay and clear mines and support counter‑mobility operations.
Operate and maintain hand tools, small construction equipment, bulldozers, cranes, and other machinery.
Serve as a technical adviser to the commander and support other units.
Maintain equipment, tools, and perform routine maintenance during weekdays.
Participate in regular training and exercise activities, and be available for deployment.
Qualifications
MBO level 2 or 3; age 17‑28 years (11 months).
Completed or almost completed VeVa O&V Level 2 training.
Good physical condition; passes the physical test, psychological assessment, medical exam, and security clearance.
Can work in a team, be adaptable, and have a strong technical aptitude for engineering tasks.
Can use construction equipment and support logistics.
Training & Career Development
Initial Basic Training (BOKL) at Assen or Oirschot.
Specialised training at the Genie Training Center in Vught, 10‑month program with options: search, explosives, counter‑mobility, advanced search.
Regular exercise participation and potential deployment.
Benefits
Monthly salary €2 950 – €3 150 (depends on age, education, experience).
Annual bonus €4 800.
23 – 30 vacation days per year; unused days may be carried over.
Free acquisition of a driving licence.
Additional statutory and incidental allowances.
Contractual bonuses and benefits accrue during service obligation.
Locations
Assignments at Geniebataljon 13 Light Brigade in Oirschot or Geniebataljon 43 Mechanised Brigade in Havelte.
