Job DescriptionThe Sr. Global Supply Planner (GSP) is responsible for long-term range supply chain planning activities and controlling the flow of product globally between manufacturing sites and distribution centers. The objective is to meet market demand and optimize inventory levels in the supply network. To achieve this, the planner must build strong relationships with supply sites, brand operations managers, ECM managers, Quality Assurance, Finance, Distribution, affiliates, and other stakeholders.
Working in a highly complex environment, leverage more than 10 specialized planning & analytics systems and tools to ensure seamless coordination and informed decision‑making. Drawing from multiple data sources, the planner anticipates future opportunities and risks and continuously looks to raise the bar to ensure success for Abb Vie and assure supply for our patients. Utilizing the global planning system, the planner monitors planning parameters to ensure reliable data for Abb Vie sites and affiliates, facilitating its use by 3PLs and customers.
- Create, monitor and maintain feasible short and mid‑term supply and replenishment plans (up to 36 months) across all assigned production families, while supporting long‑term planning inputs aligned to business strategies, financial plans, and capacity constraints; maintain target inventory profiles to effectively support market sales.
- Daily contact with one or more supply plants (internal and external) to coordinate the supply of finished product, bulk, active pharmaceutical ingredients, starting and interim materials.
- Support financial plan and long‑range planning (LRP) cycles by providing required data and input to long‑term supply strategy. Execute financial processes including hedging, inventory reserve review, and product scrapping.
- Coordinate and process inbound and outbound shipments. Support S&OP process through root‑cause analysis, problem solving, and creative thinking to drive resolution. Support artwork changes by coordinating related supply activity.
- Participate in monthly S&OP cycle by chairing supply/demand reviews with manufacturing site leadership and providing inputs as required to other S&OP activities.
- Support new product launches and product transitions by securing timely supply of materials in line with launch strategy, operational parameters, and capacity requirements; proactively identify and mitigate supply risks to ensure readiness across the planning horizon.
- Ensure SAP and JDA are kept up to date with the latest information and that customers are informed timely of supply updates and risks.
- Participate in plant meetings to review and improve performance. Generate ideas with broader organizational impact and proactively anticipate and respond to change.
- Participate in and lead cross‑functional projects as subject matter expert for GSP. Manage stakeholder relationships and expectations; influence decisions through SME knowledge and enterprise perspective. Act as project lead when required.
- Drive continuous improvement and participate in initiatives led by colleagues. Offer innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities and address challenges within the Global Supply Planning function.
- Support onboarding and development of new team members.
- Available full‑time.
- Bachelor or Master level, preferably in operations, supply chain or business management.
- Minimum 5‑7 years of work experience in a similar environment required.
- Must be experienced with ERP systems, preferably JDA/Blue Yonder and SAP.
- Must be experienced with Advanced Planning Systems and/or tools.
- Be a team player with focus on improvement and a strong drive for results.
- Must possess high‑level analytical skills. Proven strong problem solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication in English is required.
- Excellent organizational skills are required.
- Ability to step into leadership role when required.
- Persistent, resilient and resourceful when confronted with obstacles, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
