Organic Movements, Boca Raton:
Located in beautiful Boca Raton in southeast Florida, Organic Movements is center for quality dance education that provides beginner to advanced level dance and excercise classes for children ages 3 and up. We offer a range of Summer programs for kids ages 3-15 including half day and full-day performance classes. Some of the dance styles we teach include Ballet, Modern, Broadway Dance, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Tap among others.In addition to our kids classes, we also provide Student & Adult classes, Pre-natal & Post-Partum dance courses, and Parent & Child dance classes.

Childrens Ballet Programs:

Baby Ballet:
(2.5 - 3 years)
This class is designed to help toddlers comfortably transition from Mommy & Me to a more independent setting of dance instruction. Parents are encouraged to work with the instructor and their child to help them make this transition. The children will learn to see themselves as independent movers as we dance, play and sing together. They are introduced to the basic concepts of dance and classical ballet movement while playing with scarves, ribbons, and other natural materials. Concepts of balance, flexibility and stability, movement transitions of up, down, side to side, over and under, and memory games are incorporated.

Creative Ballet Movement:
(3 and 4 years)
Children are introduced to the foundation of dance through a playful exploration of music and movement in a natural, nurturing environment. All classes are approached in a play-based setting to maximize enjoyment and the learning experience in a developmentally appropriate manner. Children are encouraged to use their imagination as they develop coordination, grace, flexibility, stability and confidence in themselves.

Beginning Ballet:
(5 and 6 years)
Children are introduced to the fundamentals of balletic vocabulary and technique, focusing on the basic positions and foundational movements. This important class gives students the groundwork to build upon as they continue their training in the world of classical ballet. Classes are always taught in a patient, nurturing manner so as to maximize each child’s learning capacity. Ballet games are used to teach important concepts of technique in a manner geared to convey developmentally appropriate lessons and ensure memory retention of concepts.

Student Programs:

Ballet: Levels I - IV
(7+ years, by placement)
Any class placement is determined by studio director and the decision is final. It is common for students to remain in the same class level for multiple years as they build their foundation and technique.

Students begin their training in the art of classical ballet with a solid foundation focused on vocabulary and technique. They progress through classes via appropriate placement based on personal ability and growth rather than age. This allows each student to follow their own learning curve and maximize their learning potential through both teacher instruction and their peer group.

Hip Hop
(6+ years)
Students will be introduced to the basic steps of hip-hop styles and music. Hip Hop technique class will explore breaking, popping and locking along with other urban street dance styles.

Jazz
(6+ years)
Students will be introduced to a broad range of jazz styles with a high level of energy. Jazz technique class is performed with syncopated rhythms, isolations and will be influenced by movements and music from the 1920- through now.

Lyrical

(by placement, students must have completed Ballet I)
The class is designed to concentrate on various aspects of basic lyrical dance; these include fluidity, expressive emotion, and extension of the body. Students will master basic lyrical movements by developing ballet and jazz terminology and technique through fluid and continuous movement, exploring how to express emotions and gaining performance skills.
 
Modern
(by placement, students must have completed Ballet I)
The class is designed to concentrate on various aspects of basic modern dance; these include rhythm, body isolations and vocabulary. Students will master basic modern steps by gaining a greater understanding of musicality, develop creative practices and gain performance skills.

Parent & Child Programs:

Baby / Toddler Mommy & Me Dance
(6 weeks – 2 years)
Babies 6 weeks to 2 years in age are invited to join us and be introduced to the world of rhythm, musicality and movement, while parents are offered the chance to take a dance class without having to leave their babies!

OM’s Mommy and Baby Dance classes are offered in the mornings so as not to interfere with baby’s important naptime. This class will follow the mood and age of the babies, allowing us to progress naturally through the class without forcing a strict schedule upon our tiniest movers. Classes will include but are not limited to the following for mommy and baby: 

- Stretching
- Adagio Movement: introducing our babies to slow and fluid movement, and designed to increase the firmness and stability of post-partum strength.
- Allegro Movements: introducing our babies to staccato movement, and helping moms to develop and strengthen their agility and mobility.
- Core Strengthening Exercises
- Scarf and Ribbon Play
- Music will include classical pieces, nursery rhymes, jazz, blues, Broadway show tunes, Latin beats and much more, all chosen specifically for baby’s development and mommy’s enjoyment

Parents are asked to wear comfortable clothing they can move freely in and to come in dance shoes (ballet slippers, jazz shoes, modern footies, or jazz sneakers) or bare feet. Socks will not be allowed in the classroom. A carrier to wear your baby (Ergo, Moby, any Ring Sling, etc.) will be beneficial, but not necessary.


Adult / Open Programs:


Dance
Ballet and Burlesque classes are offered at the adult level. These classes are designed for adults of all ages and abilities, from those who are taking a dance class for the first time, to those who have danced recreationally for years and those who have (and still are) danced professionally.They are structured to accommodate the demands of our adult student's busy schedules, and our knowledgable instructors are well versed in the differences between the needs and abilities of a child's body and that of an adults. 
 
Pound Rockout Workout
We are proud to be South Florida's first and premier school for Pound Rockout Workout classes in South Palm Beach County! Created by Kirsten Potenza and Cristina Peerenboom, Pound is a full-body cardio jam session combining light resistance with constant simulated drumming. The workout fuses cardio, Pilates, isometric movements, Plyometrics and isometric poses into a 45 minute series. Burn 600 - 900 calories per hour, strengthen and sculpt infrequently used muscles, and drum your way to a leaner, sleeker physique--  all while rocking out to your favorite music!

University of Alabama Department of Computer Science, Summer Camps
Courses / Programs
This summer, the Department of Computer Science at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa will host a series of computer science camps for middle school and high school students. We welcome students from Alabama and throughout the United States, as well as international students from around the world.

We provide a week-long day (commuter) camp for middle school students, and two-week camps for high school students with both day and overnight options available. Our fun and educational summer tech camps cover a range of computer science topics such as game programming and robotics.

Our tech camps are taught by a University of Alabama faculty member and three Ph.D. students who have extensive experience in teaching Computer Science in high school. One assistant also has a PhD in Education and is pursuing a second PhD in Computer Science.

A limited number of merit and financial-need tuition scholarships are available.
Computer Camp for Middle School Students:
Week-long day camp - Game Programming with Scratch; Robotics.

Computer Camps for High School Students:
Two-week computer camps with commuter and residential dorm options available.
- Introduction to Programming with Java
- Smartphone Programming (Android App Inventor) and Robotics

Camps begin at 9am and end at 3:30pm Monday to Friday. There will be an hour-long lunch break with planned social events for those staying in our dorms.
