Located just 20 minutes north of Toronto city center, in North York, Ontario, Omnicom School of Languages provides high-quality English language courses to students from all over the world. We also have a language school in Calgary, Alberta. Our beginner to advanced level academic courses at both locations include complete English immersion experiences, Business English courses, specialized ESL exam preparation such as IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, college preparation pathway programs, a Homestay program, and more. Students can choose from short to long-term study options, with courses ranging from 2 to 48 weeks in length. We also provide a range of Summer & Winter ESL programs at our schools.

High-Quality Academic English Language Courses:
Upon arrival, a complete placement test (listening, speaking, reading, writing, structures and grammar) is administered to each student to ensure that he or she starts at the correct level. Certificates are awarded upon successful completion of studies.

Beginner to Advanced Level English Language (ESL) Courses:

- Intensive General English Programs

In this course, areas of English focused on include grammar, writing, vocabulary, idioms, reading, pronunciation, speaking, listening and colloquial North American English.

Students have many opportunities to practice English in real-life situations outside the classroom. Multifaceted teaching methodologies are employed throughout the program.

Communication-based programs are available for all levels: Beginner (Level 1) to Advanced (Level 14). 

- Private English Lessons
Length of study: 10 hours (as needed)
Intensive language training utilizing individual tutoring on an as-need basis is the central point of this program, which is available to students of all levels of ability.

Students progress at their own pace and through careful monitoring of students' progress, the program leaders are able to tailor the curriculum to each individual student's ability and preference.

- Summer/Winter Language Activity Courses
Length of study: 4 or 8 weeks (Minimum age - 14)
Omnicom specializes in activity programs. Teachers will ensure that in addition to the three/four hours of language study in the morning, the afternoon activities and full day activities on weekends will be an enjoyable and fun filled experience.

English Exam Preparation Programs 

- IELTS Exam Preparation

IELTS is increasingly becoming the assessment tool of choice among both international students and official Government agencies. It is the only assessment tool used by Immigration Canada to assess applicants’ proficiency in English.

At Omnicom, we provide a comprehensive IELTS Exam prep program.

- TOEFL iBT Preparation
Length of study: 4, 8 or 12 weeks, 25 hours/week - Minimum English Proficiency Level: 10
The TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language) is a test of an individual's ability to use and understand English in an academic setting.

Students assessed at the advance level or higher, can enrol in our TOEFL iBT Preparation Program. In the program, students will equally focus on the different sections of the test including reading, listening, speaking and writing.

The program will develop general English language skills to aide in performance on the TOEFL iBT test. 

- TOEIC Exam Preparation
Length of study: 4, 8 or 12 weeks, 25 hours/week - Minimum English Proficiency Level: 8
The TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) Exam is designed specifically to measure the everyday English skills of people working in an international environment.

Students assessed at the Upper Intermediate level or higher and interested in taking the TOEIC exam, can enrol in our TOEIC Preparation Program. Simulated tests and exercises are given in order to prepare students for the examination.

- Cambridge FCE (First Certificate in English) Exam Preparation
Length of study: 8 or 12 weeks, 25 hours/week - Minimum English Proficiency Level: 10
The Cambridge Examination Preparation consists of 5 hours of dedicated preparation each day. This program covers all 5 Papers on the Cambridge FCE exam. Students assessed at the Upper Intermediate level or higher and interested in taking the Cambridge exam, can enroll in our Cambridge Examination Preparation.

Test strategies and tips are given daily. Simulated tests along with reports are given on a weekly basis so that both the student and teacher can monitor the progress made.

- Cambridge CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) Exam Preparation
Length of study: 8 or 12 weeks, 25 hours/week - Minimum English Proficiency Level: 13
This exam is ideal for students at the advanced level wishing to use their English skills in a professional or academic environment. Students who are successful on this exam will be able to communicate effectively.

This exam will test all the skills: Reading, Writing, Use of English, Listening and Speaking. It is recommended that students have successfully completed the Cambridge First Certificate Examination (FCE) before taking this course and examination.

- Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) Test Preparation
Photos of Omnicom School of Languages, Toronto & CalgaryCAEL is being used to assess the level of English language proficiency of students planning to study at Canadian colleges and universities. It comprises an integrated set of language activities.

Test takers read articles, listen to a lecture, answer questions and write a short essay – all on one subject. Taking an intensive CAEL preparation course is paramount for being able to successfully pass the test.

- GRE / GMAT Exam Preparation:
The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) is a standardized test that is an admissions requirement for many graduate schools in North America. The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a standardized, computer-based assessment. 

Prepare for GMAT or GRE tests, get ready for Canadian colleges and universities by perfecting your English. All of our GMAT & GRE instructors have been rigorously trained, and our small classes allow our instructors to remain flexible, dynamic and enables them to cater to your needs.

Intensive English + Exam Preparation Courses:

- Intensive English Plus TOEIC Preparation
Length of study: 4, 8 or 12 weeks, 25 hours/week - Minimum English Proficiency Level: 8
Students assessed at the Upper Intermediate level or higher, can enrol in our Intensive English + TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) Preparation Programs. Students who enroll in this program will study both English and TOEIC exam prep.

- Intensive English Plus TOEFL iBT Preparation
Length of study: 4, 8 or 12 weeks, 25 hours/week - Minimum English Proficiency Level: 10
In the Intensive English section of the program, classroom activities concentrate on developing all language skills, including reading, writing, listening, speaking, and pronunciation. In the TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language) Preparation section, students will cover the different sections of the test in order to reach the necessary level of proficiency to pass the exam.

Specialized English Courses:

- Study & Work in Canada
Length of study: Up to 48 weeks, Minimum English Proficiency Level: 4
Picture of English Courses in Canada for International StudentsAvailable in both Toronto and Calgary, the Study & Work in Canada Program is designed for students who want to develop their English language skills and gain practical experience in Canada. You must be aged between 19-35 to qualify for this program.

In addition, you must have an intermediate level of English. As a Work & Study program participant, you obtain a C-30 Work Permit. 

All Study & Work programs consist of two major components - Daily English and Employment. First, you complete intensive English study at Omnicom. You will then participate in an internship (paid or unpaid).

You can choose self-placement (you find your own job), or you can opt for a package where we provide placement assistance. The internship component of your program will be equal or less than the English course component.

If you choose the self-placement option, you must complete a minimum 12 weeks of English with the last four weeks being Business English.

You will learn how to write Canadian-style resumes and cover letters, and how to successfully pass interviews. With the self-placement option, common places to find work include cafés, hospitality and service industries, coffee shops, retail shops, restaurants, and more.

- Academic English / College Preparation Pathway Program
Duration: 3-months, Minimum English Proficiency Level: 12
Omnicom School of Languages Academic English / College Preparation Pathway is an intensive, full time program that is geared toward non-native speakers of English who want to improve their skills for entry into a college or university program.

- Business English for Professionals & Business Students
Length of study: 4, 8 or 12 weeks, 25 hours/week - Minimum English Proficiency Level: 10
Our Business English Certificate Program (4 or 8 weeks) and Diploma Program (12 weeks) are designed to provide students with market competitiveness and to develop skills needed to work effectively in today's business world.

- Business English Diploma + Internship
Length of study: 12 weeks + 4 weeks (Internship), 25 hours/week
Students acquire the skills they need to succeed in business, followed by the real-world application of those skills. Students who successfully complete the Omnicom Business English Diploma Program (12 weeks) will be eligible to enroll in a 4 week work-experience at a Canadian company, in an unpaid internship position.

- English for Tourism & Hospitality
Length of study: 8 weeks - Minimum English Proficiency Level: 6
This is a course for those students who are working or seeking employment in the Tourism or Hospitality industries. Vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, listening, writing and career skills are some of the skills covered during this course.

Students will learn various aspects of these exciting and fast growing industries; expand vocabulary used in travel services, hotels and airports. 

- English for Nursing
Minimum English Proficiency Level: 8
The English for Nursing program is designed for internationally-trained nurses and nursing students whose first language is not English. It introduces English from a wide variety of nursing and medical fields in a step-by-step manner building up students’ linguistic competence and confidence.

Students are provided with the opportunities to upgrade their critical and multiple-choice test-taking skills essential for passing CRNE*/CPNRE (Canadian licensing exams).

- Power English for Life
Length of study: 8 weeks, 25 hours/week - Minimum English Proficiency Level: 4
This course is designed for low intermediate levels and focuses on speaking and listening skills along with some survival skills. This 8 week course contains the following modules: shopping, complaints, travel, banking/money, apartment hunting, volunteering, job hunting and eating out.

- Focus on Communication
Length of study: 4, 8, or 12 weeks - Minimum English Proficiency Level: 6

Our Focus on Communication Programs have 2 levels of study – Focus on Communication I (FCA) for the lower-intermediate student, and Focus on Communication II (FCB) for the more advanced learner. Both levels are divided into 2 sections: Focus on Speaking & Focus on Listening.

- English Homestay Program - Stay with a Canadian family
Homestay offers the opportunity to live in a family environment and to practice language skills daily. Omnicom carefully selects local host families to provide a safe, friendly environment.

- TESOL English Teacher Training (in Calgary, Alberta)
We offer a selection of TESL programs to suit your individual needs and objectives. Whichever program you choose, you learn classroom management, lesson planning and the principals of teaching English as a second language.

You also complete a practicum component that will enable you to approach your first TESL posting with confidence and skill. Courses include:

- 120-hour Online TESL Certificate Program (accredited by TESL Canada)
- TEYL Course (Teaching English for Young Learners)
