The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) is an accredited college providing Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in the fields of Communication Design, Drawing, Illustration, Industrial Design, Integrated Fine Arts Studio, Interior Architecture + Design, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture and Time-Based Media, as well as a range of minor degree options.
We prepare students with interest and ability in the visual arts for passage into professional careers. We are a college that launches professional artists and designers on their personal journeys toward artistic growth and successful, creative lives.
We were founded as MIAD in 1974, but formed from the Layton School of Art & Design, which began instruction in 1920. There are, on average, about 600 full-time MIAD students and about 200 staff/faculty. The student/faculty ratio is 16:1. All faculty are working artists, designers, writers and researchers; there are also instructors who are working professionals.
Make Up First ®, LLC (the “School”), is currently the only comprehensive, certificate program in Illinois dedicated solely to the art of makeup. The School provides an intensive series of makeup artistry classes, which result not only in the issuance of a certificate of completion from the school, but also from the State of Illinois. We are located in the center of Chicago, next to Grant Park. Make Up First School is a MAC-approved school. Students at Make Up First School enjoy both formal instruction as well as many hours of “hands-on” training. Courses are taught in a lecture/hands-on workshop format, providing the students with much-needed application practice.
In addition to the five core certification courses, Basic Makeup, Media Makeup, Theatrical Makeup, Clinical Makeup and Careers In Makeup Artistry, students will be offered the opportunity to enroll in advanced classes for on-going education in the field of makeup artistry. The School offers monthly, hands-on seminars in Airbrush and Bridal Makeup as well as Workshops in Fx, Transgender Makeup, Hairstyling for Makeup Artists and other areas. We are proud to sponsor legendary makeup artist presentations and workshops.
Established in 2004, London Eyes International Academy of Makeup is a leading makeup artist school in the Chicago IL area.
With two conveniently-located schools in Rosemont (to the north-west) and Oakbrook Terrace (a western suburb of Chicago), we provide high-quality hands-on training, using state-of-the-art professional products, tools and techniques from around the world.
We offer a range of makeup artist certification programs and master classes in subjects including Beauty Makeup, Media Makeup, Stage Makeup, Special Effects Makeup and Airbrush Makeup.
All of our programs are certified by the Illinois State Board of Education. Upon completion of each course, you are awarded with an Academy State Certificate.
Our mission is to create an environment where students can learn basic, intermediate and advanced makeup skills in order to pursue a career as a Certified Makeup Artist. Our curriculum offers an extensive study of traditional makeup styles, as well as some of the newest and most innovative techniques.

Students admitted into the Bachelor of Architectural Studies curriculum must complete the high school pattern 2 requirements. Students admitted into the Bachelor of Fine Arts curriculum must complete the high school pattern 1 or 2 requirements.
Motivated and academically qualified high school students admitted to the college will be guaranteed admission upon completion of their undergraduate studies to one of the following professional programs: Master of Architecture, Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design or Master of Fine Arts in Industrial Design.
