Luther College:
Situated in Decorah, Iowa, Luther College is a four-year, residential liberal arts institution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church offering Bachelor of Arts Degree Programs. As an academic community, the students and faculty of Luther College are committed to liberal learning in the arts and sciences. A Phi Beta Kappa chapter—enstated on only 276 campuses nationwide—attests to the academic excellence of the college and its students. Courses are conducted by 181 full-time teaching faculty, 89% of whom hold a Ph.D. or other terminal degree. The ratio of students to faculty is 12:1.
Decorah, the home of Luther College for more than a century, has a resident population of 8,000. Founded in the 1850s, it is the county seat of Winneshiek County, located at the junction of U.S. Highway 52 and State Highway 9. The Minnesota border lies 15 miles to the north. The Mississippi River lies 30 miles to the east.
