Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing is the nursing school of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. We provide a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in the nursing and healthcare fields. Degree programs include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), and Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD). Our faculty and students are committed to community partnerships and are actively engaged in service-based learning and practice.
The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing wants engaged students who are active in their communities, hold positions of leadership, and possess a strong desire to impact the world through nursing and health care research. While test scores and grades play a large part in the admission proess, committee members also look for exhibited leadership, extracurricular activites, and impressive personal characteristics. Admission requirements will vary depending on the program of study.
Clinical Facilities
Emory Nursing student’s benefit from Emory’s rich healthcare resources in the Atlanta area. Clinicals are done at many local hospitals including Emory University, Emory University Hospital Midtown, Grady, the VA Medical Center, Children’s, Northside, Wesley Woods, and many more. Other local resources that students benefit from include the Center for Disease Control, the Carter Center, and the American Cancer Society.
Research and Centers
Faculty and students in the School of Nursing are engaged in research addressing a variety of contemporary clinical and health policy questions. Interdisciplinary research teams are focusing on developing knowledge that will under gird nursing practice, health care innovations and policy change. Pertinent areas of inquiry include symptoms and symptom interactions in acute and chronic illness, approaches to improving health outcomes, self management, and family caregiving in acute and chronically ill populations and across the life span.
