Our main course is 2 weeks in duration, or 3 weeks with our optional, intensive Pre-Course. Residential & non-residential options are available.
In 2018, our summer music and language course will be hosted by Llandovery College, a co-educational day and boarding school in Llandovery, a market town in beautiful Carmarthenshire in south-west Wales, UK.
Our pre-course runs for one week directly before the beginning of the main course, and students who attend the pre-course then proceed to the main course.
The pre-course is designed for students who require either intensive linguistic tuition, or who wish to benefit from extra tuition from the world-class teachers who are present during the pre-course or both.
- Main Course:
Viola players will have 10 hours of viola classes over the 2-week course - 1 hour of private tuition per day.
LMFL also offers tuition in a wide range of strings, wind, brass and percussion instruments, including violin, cello, guitar & bass (electric & acoustic), harp, piano, clarinet, oboe, saxophone and more.
Very young students can be beginners in their second instrument as long as they are not beginners in the first instrument.
Our young musicians can also choose to study Orchestra Conducting, Chamber Music, Music Theory, Music Composition, Choir and more.
Our students also have the opportunity to improve their language skills in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian or Mandarin Chinese. They will learn either in small groups, or one to one with our qualified and experienced language tutors.
LMFL provides our students with opportunities to take renowned Trinity College London exams in both music and/or English language.
- Young Musicians:
Group teaching for children is by age and level.
Young musicians under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. However, we will accept unaccompanied children from the age of 11 who are at an advanced level and known to us from attending a previous LMFL course.
