PCt2U:
In 2001 the owner of PCt2U presented his ground breaking Internet College project to Tony Blair at 10 Downing Street this being to train childminders over distance online without the need to go to College. From this pioneering work in distance education at a time when we still had to dial up to the Internet to get a connection the owner of the company has spent the last twenty years delivering education along with technology as a lecturer in universities, as a teacher in schools and as an advisor to many major corporations including GE in the USA and Telecom Malaysia. You could say with someone of this calibre leading the company you are going to get the best out of your online and distance learning experiences.

Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET)

Photo of Online Teacher Training & Quality Assurance CoursesThe PGCE in Lifelong Learning or Post-Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) is considered to be equivalent to the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) at QCF Level 7. The DTLLS was also taught at QCF Level 5. (Wikipedia, 2017)

“I didn’t have any tutorials until the head of school sorted it with Paul Cook, I would of managed at the beginning a lot better if my school had of told me it was an option. In regards to my tutorials with Paul Cook, I couldn’t of managed without him, he was like my angel. Thank you for all the encouragement you have given me . I don’t know what I would have done without your endless support and cannot thank you enough”.

“Paul Cook, thank you for your invaluable mentoring these past months. I’ve had fun getting to know you better, and I’ve learned so much from talking with you and seeing how you work. You are amazing at what you do! I’m grateful to have had the chance to work with you so closely“.

Photos of PCt2UThe new DET course is a blended learning course, which includes distance learning, e-learning (online) ,observations of your work and regular guided interaction on our Moodle. Although we do not visit any of your professional activities we offer a comprehensive and practical observation of your work via video recordings that are fully established as valid via our awarding body the NCFE.
Assessment will be by a range of methods such as written and practical assignments, professional discussion with your tutor, question and answering via our Moodle forums, observation and practical work assignments. You will be supported by an allocated tutor who will also be your assessor. You will also need to be observed teaching in a professional context for at least eight hours during the course.

The most important thing is that your teaching sessions are required to be supported by appropriate session plans and schemes of work. The observations are carried out by qualified expert professionals.

How long is the course?

Students are able to complete the course within a shorter time depending on a number of factors which includes own commitment and ability to study at a higher level. There is no compromise regarding the quality of evidence which has to be produced to demonstrate competency! Candidates will still be expected to evidence 100 teaching hours and 360 guided learning hours.

Picture of Online Teacher Training & Quality Assurance CoursesPlease bear in mind this course includes distance learning and students will require a lot of self motivation and should be committed and aim to maximise all the learning opportunities available! If a student invests more time on the course such as 15 hours a week then they will most likely complete earlier compared to someone who commits only 2 hours. You are usually expected to complete the course within 12 months from enrollment. However this time frame can extend given various mitigating circumstances up to a maximum of two years.

Entry requirements?

You will need to evidence Literacy and Numeracy skills. Students will also be expected to have access to 100 teaching hours.

You are expected due to the nature of course delivery to have access to the internet, computer and a word processor that can open and produce Microsoft Word Documents ending with the extension ‘.doc’. Candidates without Microsoft office are advised to consider free open source software such as Open Office. You however need to ensure your documents are saved and submitted for assessment as word documents ending with the extension ‘.doc’?

Progression on completion?

You can progress on to higher teaching courses such as the Masters in Education after your DET qualification and training. You can also after completion apply for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Qualified status ( given by professional bodies membership or registration) is not regarded as a ‘qualification’ under the RCF.

When you have successfully completed your DET course, you can apply for your QTLS from the Education and Training foundation and QTS from the UK Government. .

How do I register?

We offer a rolling induction due to the nature of the course delivery and you can join us anytime as long as you meet all of our requirements as above. Please contact us in the first instance to discuss your requirements and further to that conversation you will be required to complete and application. If your application is successful then you will be registered with our awarding body the NCFE and your Moodle login details will be sent to you along with further guidance on our course available via your allocated tutor. You will be required to make a financial commitment further to registering you with the awarding organisation and details of payments in full or via our installment plans can be discussed.

Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET)

Images of PCt2UDespite being previously let down by an online training provider in the past, I was reticent about using another provider.  When I first spoke to Paul he assured me he would  help me get back on track and I would be able to complete my teaching qualifications. He kept to his word and I would highly recommend training with his company”.
