Postgraduate Diploma In Management - Part Time (PGDM-PT) For Working Executives

- Especially designed to offer experienced executives an opportunity to undergo MBA level training.

- Provides immediate scope to put to practice the management concepts, developments and theories.

Duration
Class interaction will be for two years only while the independent project work will spread to third year. Classes generally on weekends (Saturdays: 2:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sundays: 8:30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.), but may sometimes stretch to Sunday afternoon, especially during the second year, to accommodate more electives.

Eligibility
Minimum 50% marks in a three-year Bachelors degree or equivalent in any discipline, recognised by the UGC/AICTE/AIU as eligible for Post Graduate Studies in Management; and
Full time work experience of at least three years in an executive/ supervisory position.

One of the major activities at Goa Institute of Management (GIM) has been designing, developing and conducting innovative Management Development Programmes (MDPs) for professionalizing management for working executives in India. The globalized business environment demands that managers leverage the most advanced approaches to keep abreast of changes. Hence, it becomes essential for managers to continuously update themselves about the changes in business management practices to enhance the thinking process for better quality decision-making. Due to this growing need of training and development for corporate executives, GIM has been consistently imparting training on the current areas of interest to corporate executives at all levels through MDPs, customized in-house programmes and consultancy as an important academic extension activity. The programs are designed to provide innovative and practical solutions to critical management challenges.

Samriddhi 2008 hosted by GIM provides ‘Green’ solutions

Panaji, 30th August 2008: The conference hall at a city hotel in the capital was abuzz with excitement and vibrant new ideas with intellectuals, students and corporates putting their heads together to churn out ‘green’ solutions to issues afflicting our environment.

Every year Samriddhi – an annual national conference organized by students of Goa Institute of Management addresses issues related to various spheres of development and strives to find practical and viable solutions for Industrial growth. This year Samriddhi focused on the concept of Green Infrastructure or sustainable infrastructure, its feasibility and the business implications of the same. Chief Minister Mr. Digambar Kamat inaugurated the conference and congratulated the students of GIM on this unique initiative.

Library:

The library has a select collection of more than 13000 management books, and subscribes to over 8500 online international journals and 164 hardcopy management journals from India and abroad. Current information on Indian companies is available through CMIE databases. It also maintains a collection of management videos, which are available to students for viewing in the library. Library is automated using NEWGENLIB Automation Software and Barcode technology. Comprehensive coverage of news and information is provided in the digital Library section.

Classrooms:

All GIM classrooms are provided with audio-visual equipments like LCD overhead projectors, OHP and video sets to enhance the presentation of classroom sessions and student project reports. Equipment is also available for the video recording and playback of student classroom presentations to facilitate learning. All classrooms are networked, providing access to GIM’s Digital Library databases and the Internet. GIM classrooms are being air-conditioned and currently provided Wi-Fi (wireless internet) facility in class. The institute plans to extent this Wi-Fi facility to the entire campus.

Hostel and facilities

GIM’s two year full time programme is residential and requires that all students live on campus because the nature of the programme entails that student should learn to work in groups. The hostel accommodation compares favourably with that provided by most Post Graduate Institutes of Management. The students manage their own mess through a contactor. Other facilities available include a laundry, gymnasium, canteen, TV and music room, meditation room and sports. All hostel rooms are networked, providing students easy access to the Institute’s databases and to the internet through a MBPS leased line connection. The Post Office and the Extension Counter of Corporation Bank are also within easy reach. The entire campus is connected with state-of –the art LAN connection with 24-hour service of Internet connection and electronic databases, medical facility is also available round the clock.
