St Brelade's College, Jersey:
St Brelade’s College in Jersey is a family-run language school, established in 1978 and we pride ourselves on providing a personal service. As a result we see many of our students returning year on year, making the most of the programmes we offer and the beautiful island of Jersey. We provide our students with a range of courses throughout the year, including holiday, intensive or business courses, private lessons or residential programmes. We offer separate courses for adults and young learners and welcome individuals or groups.

English Language Courses for Adults:

• Short English courses of 2, 3 & 4 weeks:
Our short courses are designed for students wishing to improve their communication skills.

Students are taught in small classes by qualified teachers in a relaxed and friendly environment.

All our courses include a lively activity and social programme to allow students to see the unique attractions in Jersey while getting to know their fellow students and practising their English. 

Longer courses of 8 weeks to 9 months are available as follows:


• Standard English course:
Students on our standard English course have 20 English lessons per week.

Classes are held in the morning which means that in the afternoon you are free to take part in our social programme or explore the island. 


• Intensive English courses:
Starting any Monday, all year round. 30 lessons per week in small classes plus activity and social programme.


• One-to-one individual tuition - Private English lessons:
20 or 30 one-to-one lessons per week in which you can specialise in the subject area of your choice (e.g. business English, conversational English, English for special purposes).


• Summer Holiday English courses:
Starting any Monday (summer season only). 20 lessons per week in small classes plus extended activity and social programme. Summer intensive programmes are also available.


• Business Intensive English course:
The business intensive programme is aimed at anyone who uses English regularly in the workplace.

It is a cost-effective way to combine a refresher course in general English, with some focused work in the skills and language required to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues from a range of different nationalities. The programme consists of:

- 15 hours morning classes in general English, focusing on skills and grammar (max class size 9 students) plus 7.5 hours afternoon mini-group classes in business English (max class size 6 students) 

- Full social programme included (2 afternoons plus 2 evenings) 


• Combination English Courses (Group Classes with one-to-one lessons in specific subjects)
Combine 10 or 20 group lessons with a one to one programme.

This is a good way of focusing on a specific language area, such as English for business, English for law, medical English, whilst obtaining extra conversational practice in the group lessons. 


• English Language Examination Preparation:
- Cambridge First Certificate (FCE)
- Cambridge Advanced Exam (CAE)
- IELTS and TOEFL test preparation courses


• English plus Golf:
With six golf courses on the island you can combine a sport that you love with English lessons.

Choose to do a standard or intensive English course and combine that with either a standard or intensive golf programme. This course is offered all year round.


• 50+ English Programme for Mature Students & Seniors:
In both May and September, we run courses specifically for the mature student. This is a two week programme that combines lessons and social activities in the company of other similarly aged people.

Activities, such as visits to local castles and manor houses, gentle north coast walks and cream teas allow the students to discover the island of Jersey.


• Homestay Programme:
Students have the option of staying in homestay - with one of our many host families on the island, in a summer residence or in hotel accommodation.

Many adult students and young learners choose to stay in host family accommodation, where they receive breakfast, dinner and a packed lunch to eat at the school.

The host family is also responsible for transfers on arrival and departure, while the college provides free daily transport to and from school.

All the host families receive regular visits from our accommodation officer and are expected to provide a decent standard of comfort and hospitality.


• Adult & Teenage Residences:
St Brelade's College provides both adult and teenage residences, available at various times throughout the year. Our adult residence is located 5 minutes walk from the main college in St Aubin.

Our teenage residences run during school holidays throughout the year. Students are provided with full board and are supervised by our residence managers.


• English Courses for Young Learners:
During school holidays, we run separate courses for teenagers. Our summer English school operates on three separate sites: St Brelade’s College (for adults), St Brelade’s Junior School (5 minutes from the main college, for ages 10-13) and Highlands College in town (for teenagers).

Teenage students receive tuition in the morning and a choice of excursions and sports in the afternoon. Surfing, windsurfing, football and tennis are among the most popular sports included in our course fees.

Activities & Holiday Packages:
Young learners can either stay in homestay, offering them the chance to practise their English with a local family on a daily basis or they can stay in our summer residence, which we run in Jersey.

With a varying weekly activity programme, visiting places of interest, such as castles and conservation parks, arranging social evenings and activities such as water sports, we provide a holiday package that allows our students to practise their English, along with having a memorable stay.
