Most Mental Health careers involve counseling patients in order to promote positive mental health. Mental health professionals focus on illness prevention and work with individuals and groups of all ages. Education:
To work in Mental Health you will need to qualify with an advanced degree in your chosen area. All mental health programs go into detail about the functions of the brain and human behavior. Below are some of the career avenues available and the minimum educational entry level requirements.

Professional Counselor - Master's Degree
Psychiatric Nurse - Masters Degree in Nursing
Phychiastrist - Advanced practice Medical Doctors (M.D.)
Pscyhologist - Doctorate Degree (Ph.D)

Career:
A career in mental health will involve working with individuals diagnosed with mental and emotional problems. Care is provided by a combination of counseling, medicinal, therapeutic and social therapies. The mental health field has a wide range of careers available. Counselors work with families and groups, Clinical Psychologists work in hospitals and with the justice department. Psychiatrists are licensed to prescribe medications to treat mentally ill patients and Psychiatric Nurses work with a broad spectrum of patients in a wide variety of settings.
