Your Role At CabotCabot Corporation is seeking a Site SH&E Manager to join the SH&E organization and leadership team onsite at the Franklin, LA facility.
This is an ideal role for a professional with in-depth Safety, Health, and Environmental expertise from the chemical manufacturing industry who enjoys approaching challenges with a positive and proactive attitude. The Franklin facility is one of the most complex carbon black sites in the Cabot network that will lend an opportunity for an individual to leave their mark!
This critical role leads and directs the plant in the Safety, Health, and Environmental (SH&E) areas as follows:
- Supports the Plant Management Team and Regional / Corporate SH&E to ensure environmental science concerns are identified and managed.
- Reports directly to the Facility General Manager and has 4 direct reports (i.e Safety and Environmental specialists) who they will lead and develop further.
- Supervises specialists involved in monitoring and preventing chemical, physical hazards throughout the plant and the community.
- Leads and facilitates the development and implementation of cost-effective programs and procedures that continuously increase overall awareness in SH&E to eliminate undesired incidents at the site.
- Partners with local management team to assure local compliance with all applicable plant, company, and governmental policies, procedures, regulations, and legislation. Collaborate with the Region, Corporate and regulatory agencies to ensure SH&E concerns are identified and managed.
- Leads and facilitates the development and implementation of training and other programs and activities necessary to ensure facility SH&E compliance.
- Monitors proposed and existing SH&E regulations and legislation to determine their impact on operations. Develops and implements programs to ensure continued compliance.
- Participates in the development and implementation of Long Range Plans (LRPs), Continuous Improvement Plans (CIPs), global standards, budget and other corporate efforts.
- Establishes site SH&E goals and objectives consistent with global and regional goals.
- Leads and facilitates the development and implementation of facility SH&E improvement plans to enhance compliance and improve SH&E performance and monitor and report progress toward achieving site goals and objectives using established SH&E metrics.
- Manages system for identifying, investigating, recording, and reporting undesired SH&E events. Ensures corrective actions are taken to fulfill regulatory compliance.
- Provides regular communication to all levels of management regarding SH&E issues and performance to ensure that relevant issues are quickly and appropriately addressed.
- Supervises, develops and evaluates employees in the SH&E area. Manages activities and provides leadership to professional, technical and support employees of unit.
- Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.
- Bachelor/University degree in Environmental or Safety engineering or related fields.
- 7+ years of related experience (i.e. OSHA, Title V permitting, waste, water, air, etc).
- Prior manufacturing experience is required.
- Prior leadership/ supervisory experience is desired.
