Associate Financial Planner

We are a totally independent, new-school, fast-growing, people-centric, financial planning firm looking for a friendly Associate Financial Planner to join our awesome team as we build out and up.

We are happy to consider those with at least a QAFP, CFP, CFA or CPA designation (but please do not apply if you do not have at least one of these).

We're a remote-first firm (based out of Abbotsford, BC), but because of our schedules and in-person team get-togethers, we're looking for someone based in BC or Alberta.

No investment or insurance licenses are required. That said, portfolio manager or associate portfolio manager credentials are certainly an asset.

We are a firm that highly values “grabbing the bull by the horns” and we expect those joining our team to be serious about carrying their own weight. Aside from that (and the obvious need for having an affinity for financial planning), we are looking for someone who:

• is a natural people-person
• is totally self-motivated
• has a gift for communicating clearly and warmly
• is relatively tech savvy

The role we are looking to fill at the moment is for someone to work alongside our lead planners in our “full access” (AUM) division as an associate with the long term goal of developing into a lead planner. You would be working closely with clients in both planning and servicing.

There is no selling required in this role.

But it does include:

• sifting through and pulling key data from financial documents
• creating detailed meeting agendas
• helping run online meetings with clients
• facilitating client instructions
• cultivating client relationships
• fielding client follow-ups
• living and breathing Conquest financial planning software
• communicating financial concepts with clients in “plain English”
• implementing and monitoring financial plans
• auditing the financial plans that we create

Experience with Conquest financial planning software is a massive asset. Knowing your way around Google Workspace would be great as well.

Ultimately, we are looking for a competent planner who loves people, loves financial planning, has a serious affection for detailed and thorough work, works fast, is a clear, friendly communicator and is easy to get along with. Frankly, we love what we do, we do it really well and we have fun doing it. And we want to work with people who want that too.

Lastly, most of our new clients discover us via You Tube and are attracted to the style and the overall financial philosophy that they see presented there. Anyone joining us would need to be well-acquainted with our content and jive deeply with our planning approach since that is precisely what our clients are expecting.

It should also be understood that we, as a firm, tilt philosophically to classic, free-market capitalism. We understand that no system is perfect, but as advisors entrusted with helping guide the long term growth and protection of our clients’ wealth, we are always working towards less taxation and more freedom. This is our baseline position. And always will be. This needs to be highlighted as we are active in various media and openly, yet carefully, articulate our positions.

Some may love this approach and feel right at home with it. Others might not.

Compensation is between $70,000 – $100,000, depending on skill and experience, with clear room to grow as you demonstrate awesomeness and move toward a lead planner role.
