The Opportunity

St. John Ambulance BC & Yukon (SJA BCY) is seeking a dynamic, hands‑on leader to oversee operations and drive performance at its Abbotsford Branch and Chilliwack satellite location.

The Branch Manager, reporting to the Senior Manager, Branch Operations & Facilities is responsible for leading all branch activities and requires a skilled, adaptable leader with a diverse range of capabilities to ensure the branch operates at its full potential.

Our branches are primarily focused on delivering first‑aid training courses; in addition, they offer first‑aid products and serve as important community hubs for our volunteers. The Branch Manager must maintain agility in managing shifting priorities, moving seamlessly between operational and strategic areas of focus. Key responsibilities include team leadership, customer experience, instructor management, business development, and overall branch administration.

As a leader, the Branch Manager will also support broader organisational initiatives to help St. John Ambulance BC & Yukon continuously strengthen its ability to serve customers and communities. They will act as an ambassador for the organisation, building strong relationships with customers, volunteers, and the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and execute the branch’s annual Performance Plan
  • Contribute to broader strategic initiatives led by Provincial Headquarters (PHQ) and other departments
  • Lead planning and scheduling of the annual training calendar
  • Achieve revenue and expense targets aligned with the approved Performance Plan and budget
  • Manage branch expenditures responsibly to optimize use of organisational resources

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients and students
  • Proactively engage customers to increase enrollment, retention, and overall revenue
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to support customer growth and revenue generation

Administration:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and adherence to St. John Ambulance BC & Yukon policies and procedures
  • Oversee adherence to operational and administrative standards
  • Monitor and report on branch performance, including monthly financial and operational reporting
  • Provide support to other branches as required

Instructor Engagement:

  • Build and maintain positive, productive relationships with instructors
  • Manage instructor scheduling to support efficient and effective course delivery

Facilities Management:

  • Maintain a high‑quality learning environment by overseeing facility upkeep, including maintenance, cleanliness, and repairs
  • Liaise with external partners (e.g., landlords, service providers) to ensure operational needs are met
  • Identify and recommend facility improvements to PHQ

Volunteer & Community Engagement:

  • Foster relationships with local Brigade, Cadet, and Therapy Dog programs
  • Represent SJA BC & Yukon within the community, including events, schools, and local business networks

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Coach, mentor, and support team members in developing their skills, experience, and responsibilities
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and high‑performing work environment

Other:

  • Occasional travel to other branches may be required
