Field Service Representative – ABBOTSFORD (Gas Utilities)
Join our team as a Field Service Representative (Gas Utility) in British Columbia, where you will install gas meters for residential and small commercial customers. This role is primarily travel-based during the peak season (June–September) with a structured rotational schedule.
Key Responsibilities- Install new gas meters at residential and small commercial properties.
- Use hand tools and equipment for daily meter installation activities.
- Conduct safety checks and leak tests on installed meters.
- Support other Metercor project locations on a rotational or short‑term basis when required.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Ensure all installations comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Interact with customers professionally and courteously, explain installation processes, and address concerns.
- Accurately document all installation activities and complete digital work orders via handheld device.
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Travel required throughout British Columbia during peak season (June–September).
- 14 days on / 4 days off rotation, 1–2 times per month.
- Over a 2‑month period may equate to approximately 42 days on the road, 12 days off, and 6 days working locally.
- Majority of working time during peak season will be spent traveling.
- Company‑provided metercor vehicle.
- Hotel accommodation fully paid during deployments.
- $80 per day travel allowance while traveling.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in gas meter installation, plumbing, pipe fitting, or related field is an asset but not required.
Skills &
Competencies:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and technical ability.
- Comfortable with hands‑on, physical field work and using digital devices for work orders.
- Strong troubleshooting and excellent customer service skills.
- Reliable, punctual, self‑motivated; able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively for extended periods.
Certifications & Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license (driver’s abstract required).
- Successful criminal background check.
- Paid 2‑week training program prior to deployment.
- Training covers gas meter installation, safety procedures, customer service, and hands‑on field mentorship.
Environment:
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to potential hazards (e.g., gas systems, confined spaces).
- Regular physical activity and use of tools throughout the day.
- Frequent regional and provincial travel during peak season.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
- Use of PPE, including fitted face mask where required.
- $33.00/hour wage.
- $80/day travel allowance during travel assignments.
