POSITION SUMMARY:

This unionized position is a 12-month, continuing position based out of our Facilities building at 31759 King Road. Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. This position is eligible to participate in the Extended Health & Dental Plan, as well as pension contributions to the Municipal Pension Plan.

Under the general direction of the Foreman – DDC, the Trades Journeyman – DDC is responsible for functions which involve providing technical support and training to other trades and district staff. This position is responsible for the repair, maintenance, inspection and installation of DDC systems including (but not limited to) network infrastructure, equipment programming, graphical user interfaces and mechanical and electrical equipment related to DDC controls.

This position performs a variety of technical/manual tasks under limited supervision and in accordance with clearly established policies, procedures, regulations and codes. Judgment is exercised in handling new assignments and determining new work methods.

SPECIFIC

ACCOUNTABILITIES :
  • Installing, modifying and maintaining DDC systems including the systems network infrastructure, equipment programming/scheduling and electrical/mechanical equipment related to DDC control (e.g. motors, variable frequency drives, actuators, dampers).
  • Installing, modifying, repairing and maintaining motors, generators, secondary electrical distribution systems, interior building components, lighting and electrical equipment, domestic and commercial appliances, lighting.
  • Creating, installing, modifying, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining graphical user interfaces and/or web pages related to viewing/controlling DDC systems.
  • Operating and maintaining computer systems and software related to DDC controls, including web server, notebook/desktop computers.
  • Troubleshooting problems with DDC and electrical systems including diagnosing and isolating the problem, researching solutions and repairing when tools and resources are available or referring to external contractors when necessary.
  • Providing support, technical advice and training to other trades and district staff relating to use and maintenance of DDC and other electronic equipment.
  • Providing advice and assistance related to installation and integration of other building management and monitoring devices and/or metering equipment.
  • Providing advice and assistance related to new DDC installations, repairs or modifications/upgrades to existing DDC systems.
  • Undertaking related duties, as assigned consistent with this position.
