For 50 years, Fraser Valley Fire Protection has been helping keep businesses, institutions, and communities across the Fraser Valley safe. What started as a local fire protection company has grown into a trusted industry leader, and we’re continuing to expand. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re looking for skilled professionals who want to build a long-term career with a company that values expertise, integrity, and exceptional customer service.

If you take pride in your work, enjoy solving problems, and want to be part of a respected team with a strong reputation, we’d like to hear from you.

About the Role

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location:

Abbotsford, BC (and surrounding areas)

We are seeking a Backflow Assembly Tester to test, inspect, maintain, and repair backflow prevention assemblies throughout the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland.

This role involves working at commercial, industrial, institutional, and multi-residential properties, making sure backflow assemblies protect the potable water supply and meet municipal cross-connection control requirements.

Daily travel to customer sites is required. We aim to assign work within a reasonable proximity to your home where possible; however, travel throughout our service area is required.

You will work independently and alongside other technicians and project team members to complete annual tests, repairs, replacements, and service calls.

This role is a good fit for experienced plumbers looking to step away from construction and into steady, predictable service work. You’ll use the skills you already have, work regular weekday hours, and drive a company vehicle to customer sites instead of reporting to a job site.

Responsibilities
  • Test and inspect backflow prevention assemblies in accordance with applicable standards and municipal requirements
  • Maintain, repair, and rebuild backflow assemblies, including replacing internal parts as needed
  • Diagnose failed assemblies and recommend repairs or replacement
  • Complete and submit test reports accurately and on time to customers and municipalities
  • Communicate findings clearly with customers and team members
  • Provide professional customer service while representing Fraser Valley Fire Protection at customer sites
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company procedures and applicable regulations
Requirements
  • Valid BCWWA Backflow Assembly Tester certification
  • Working knowledge of the BC Plumbing Code and municipal cross-connection control bylaws
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Attention to detail in testing and record keeping
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to perform physical work, including lifting equipment, working in confined or awkward spaces, and working at various job sites
  • Red Seal Plumber certification, fire sprinkler experience, or an RFPT certification is an asset
  • Experience using Service Trade or similar field service software is an asset
What We Offer
  • Competitive wages (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
  • Extended health and dental benefits
  • Deferred Profit Sharing Plan
  • Company service vehicle and fuel card
  • Company cell phone
  • Paid training and ongoing professional development
  • Stable, year-round work
  • Opportunities for advancement within a growing company
  • Supportive team environment with experienced industry professionals
Schedule

Monday to Friday, overtime and emergency service calls as required
