About the Research
CCDC ARL Center for Agile Materials Manufacturing Science (CAMMS, https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) additive manufacturing (AM) laboratory is conducting state‑of‑the‑art transformative agile manufacturing. The work includes, but is not limited to, additive manufacturing (also known as 3D printing) and advanced manufacturing research for developing Army-relevant metallics, polymerics, and hybrid materials‑based AM feed stocks; and integrating these feed stocks into various advanced digital manufacturing processes in support of the Army Modernization Priorities (https://).
Advances in additive and digital manufacturing create new opportunities to expedite complex designs to on‑demand, point‑of‑need manufacturing while addressing multidisciplinary challenges linked to Army Modernization Priorities.
The candidate will:
- Scientifically assess the effects of metal AM processing independently.
- Work with ARL personnel to build baselines and optimize metal prints for qualitative and quantitative evaluation.
- Disseminate findings within ARL through verbal communication.
- Collaborate in a team environment.
The Materials and Manufacturing Sciences Division is seeking an internship candidate with strong academic backgrounds in:
- Computer‑aided design (CAD)
- Metals additive manufacturing
- Computer programming and scripting languages
- Analytical or computational skills
Additional requirements:
- Working toward a science or engineering degree (preferred: general or computer engineering; other STEM fields considered).
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to work in a team environment.
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizen Only
