Mechanical Engineer Intern
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented mechanical engineer intern to support the design, development, testing, and integration of mechanical systems and components. This role is ideal for a student who is passionate about applying engineering principles to solve real‑world technical challenges while gaining hands‑on experience in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities- Assist in the design and analysis of mechanical components, assemblies, and mechanisms.
- Support testing, evaluation, and validation of mechanical systems and prototypes.
- Create and update 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Perform data collection, measurement, and analysis using mechanical test equipment such as calipers, strain gauges, force/torque instruments, and environmental test setups.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, software, and systems engineering.
- Help develop prototypes, mechanical fixtures, and test setups.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas to improve reliability, performance, and manufacturability.
- Support failure analysis and root cause investigations on mechanical components and assemblies.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, statics/dynamics, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with basic mechanical test equipment and hands‑on prototyping.
- Coursework or project experience with CAD/analysis tools (e.g., Solid Works, Creo, Inventor, ANSYS, MATLAB, or similar).
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and seek feedback proactively.
- Ability to attain a Secret clearance.
- Prior internship or project experience working on real‑world mechanical systems or hardware development.
- Existing Secret Clearance.
The position is contingent upon candidate’s ability to meet physical and medical requirements as needed by the position; including compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local jurisdictional requirements.
