Senior Vessel Manager

Responsibilities

As part of your role, we will entrust you with the following responsibilities:

  • Full accountability for the operational availability, overall performance, and operational readiness of the fleet of vessels supporting offshore wind operations
  • Provide direction, leadership, and development to the ship management team ashore, including crewing, procurement, and QHSE, as well as to vessel management onboard, ensuring high performance and strong collaboration across internal and external functions
  • Execute the fleet compliance strategy to ensure that all applicable national and international regulations, class and flag state requirements, and client-specific requirements are fully complied with
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of fleet-wide policies and standards to drive high levels of safety culture, vessel performance, and operational excellence
  • Manage daily and long-term maintenance strategies, dry dockings, minor and major repairs, and technical projects for a modern, high-spec fleet
  • Drive and measure continuous improvement in safety, technical performance, and operational excellence across the fleet
  • Ownership of budgets, cost control, KPI reporting, and the financial performance of assigned vessels
  • Act as a key interface within the joint venture structure and maintain strong working relationships with clients, business partners, yards, suppliers, and authorities
  • Participate in the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of business plans and budgets, both internally and externally
  • Advise the Owners and senior management on matters relating to the technical operation, maintenance, and performance of the fleet

Requirements

  • Completed technical or maritime education, e.g. marine engineering, nautical science, maritime technologies, or a comparable qualification such as Chief Engineer Unlimited; seagoing experience is considered an advantage
  • Solid experience in a senior role within vessel or international ship management, ideally within the offshore or offshore wind industry; experience with W2W vessels is considered an advantage
  • Proven leadership experience with responsibility for teams, operational performance, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong understanding of maritime regulations, class and flag state requirements, dry dockings, maintenance strategies, and technical project execution
  • Experience in budget management, cost control, KPI reporting, and financial performance monitoring
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills with the ability to operate effectively in an international environment
  • Experience with technical management systems, ERP systems, or comparable digital tools
  • Very good English skills, both written and spoken;
    German language skills are considered an advantage
  • Willingness to supervise operations both from shore and offshore, including maintaining required offshore and GWO certifications where applicable
