Automation & Mechatronics Engineer
Bridger Automation is a controls engineering and UL 508A panel building company based in Aberdeen, MD. We design and build the electrical control systems behind automated warehouse distribution centers—the conveyor networks, sortation, and material handling equipment that power modern logistics. Our work spans custom panel design and fabrication, PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley and Beckhoff TwinCAT), and warehouse control software deployment. We’re a small, senior team that does serious engineering and moves fast.
Whatyou’ll do
This is a hands‑on role on a lean team — you’ll do real engineering work alongside our controls engineers, not shadow from the sidelines. Depending on your strengths and interests, you’ll work on:
- Assembling, wiring, and checking out UL 508A control panels under the guidance of senior engineers
- Drafting control panel layouts and schematics in AutoCAD Electrical
- Building and maintaining our standardized component and symbol libraries (Phoenix Contact and other catalog data)
- Generating I/O lists, wire numbering, submittal packages, and as‑built documentation
- Supporting factory acceptance testing (FAT) and panel checkout
- Assisting with PLC and automation tasks as you ramp up
You’ll own a defined project end to end over the course of the internship and present your work to the team.
What we’re looking for- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field (rising sophomore or above)
- Solid grasp of basic electrical and circuit fundamentals
- Comfortable working with your hands and detail‑oriented with documentation
- Curious, takes ownership, and wants to actually build things
- Exposure to PLCs, ladder logic, or Structured Text
- AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical experience
- Python familiarity
- Interest in warehouse automation, robotics, or industrial controls
You’ll see your work ship to live facilities, learn how a modern engineering team uses AI tooling to punch above its size, and get real mentorship from engineers who do this every day. Strong interns have a clear path to a full‑time offer.
