As our Inland Supply Trader (m/w/d), you will be primarily responsible for optimizing our value chain in the area of fuels. Our team ensures that we achieve the best possible net revenue for our refineries, provide the most economical and reliable supply for our marketing business, and manage the price risk of our German business. In addition to our own production, we also source our products from the domestic and global markets.

Together with your colleagues, you will be responsible for the procurement of gasoline, diesel, heating oil, and jet fuel, as well as for the commercial optimization of supply streams in Germany.

You will not only manage your own portfolio of major business partners but also take responsibility for parts of the overall price risk management of VARO Energy in Germany. In continuous coordination with other colleagues, you will shape our overall supply and trading strategy to align it with our procurement portfolio, hedging strategy, and the strategic interests of VARO. Together with colleagues from the Renewables Desk, you will explore the possibilities of combining mineral oil, biofuels, and other renewable products.

The position we offer has a special focus on Germany, one of the largest and most dynamic domestic markets in Europe, as well as on Austria. The VARO Group is also commercially active in many other neighboring countries, which offers numerous opportunities for cross-border optimization. In this context, you will regularly be in contact with our teams in Rotterdam and Baar.

YOUR MOST IMPORTANT TASKS

• Procurement of products for our marketing and trading departments to ensure product availability in line with our trading strategy

• Commercial optimization of product flows and net revenues of our refinery

• Management of our physical position and price risks in line with the market structure

• Negotiating and concluding contracts with external partners, both for spot and forward trades. This includes purchases and sales in large quantities (e.g., ships and trains) as well as truck loads and commodity exchanges

• Utilizing VARO's extensive expertise in mineral oils and renewable energies to increase value across our entire value chain

• Managing the risk position for VARO Germany together with other supply traders, taking clear responsibility for profit and loss (P&L)

• Continuously improving and steering the trading strategy together with other supply traders, the Pricing & Optimisation Manager, and our other trading departments

• Contributing local market knowledge to group-wide internal discussions on trading and risk strategies

• Maintaining close cross-border cooperation with our colleagues in Switzerland and the Netherlands

YOUR PROFILE

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification with at least 4 years of relevant work experience in the oil industry, preferably in the German market

• In-depth knowledge of the principles of risk management, trading, and hedging

• Ideally, familiarity with relevant logistics and delivery operations in Germany

• Previous experience in the field of renewable energies is advantageous

• Familiarity with the concept of optimizing the value chain for fuels is desirable

• Fluent German and English skills (verbal and written)
