Job Description

Special Education teaching position in a classroom.

It is the teacher’s responsibility to provide his / her students with the best learning experience possible. The teacher should help develop each student to his / her maximum potential.

Area of Responsibility

Duties include but not limited to the following:

  • Develop and maintain a classroom environment conductive to effective learning
  • Prepare for classes assigned, and shows written evidence (lesson plans) of preparation upon request of administration
  • Serve as disciplinarian
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and materials
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Evaluate student progress on a regular basis
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
  • Provide for his / her own professional growth through an ongoing program concerning both the broad academic and behavior progress of all assigned students
  • Accept a share of responsibility for curricular and extra-curricular activities as assigned
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials
  • Attend and participates in faculty meetings, in-service and professional development
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and board policy
  • Demonstrate knowledge and teach the district and state curricula
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the administration

  • Bachelor degree preferred.
