Job DescriptionSpecial Education teaching position in a classroom.
It is the teacher’s responsibility to provide his / her students with the best learning experience possible. The teacher should help develop each student to his / her maximum potential.
Area of ResponsibilityDuties include but not limited to the following:
- Develop and maintain a classroom environment conductive to effective learning
- Prepare for classes assigned, and shows written evidence (lesson plans) of preparation upon request of administration
- Serve as disciplinarian
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and materials
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Evaluate student progress on a regular basis
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
- Provide for his / her own professional growth through an ongoing program concerning both the broad academic and behavior progress of all assigned students
- Accept a share of responsibility for curricular and extra-curricular activities as assigned
- Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials
- Attend and participates in faculty meetings, in-service and professional development
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and board policy
- Demonstrate knowledge and teach the district and state curricula
- Perform other duties as assigned by the administration
