The endowment holder for the Selma Kendrick Endowed Professorship in Nursing in the SDState College of Nursing will partner with the college’s Native American Nursing Education Center with the goal of growing research and scholarly activities to impact the health of Native American Communities in South Dakota. The College of Nursing prides itself in commitment to excellence in education, research, and clinical practice.

The College of Nursing is especially interested in candidates who have significant potential to build extramural funding to support the goals of improving health in Native American communities. This position is located in Rapid City
, South Dakota. This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.

The college’s fully accredited Healthcare Simulation Center encompassing all three sites is further evidence of our commitment to high quality education for all students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Embedded in the SDSU College of Nursing’s Native American Nursing Education Center ( NANEC ), this endowed professorship will fulfill a collaborative role with the advising and mentoring team in NANEC to:
  • Build supportive relationships with Native American Students across the college.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with tribal communities across South Dakota.
  • Develop teams responsible for innovative health research that impacts the health and well-being of indigenous populations across South Dakota.
  • Grow a body of health research that informs health policy, population well-being, and healthy communities.
  • Develop consistent extramural funding to support the research endeavors to support NANEC and the innovative research focus for Native American populations.
  • Support teaching teams and NANEC in development of pedagogically sound educational offerings.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, completed by application date;
  • Graduate Degree in Nursing, completed by application date;
  • A Ph.D. in nursing or related field, completed by start date;
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate levels;
  • A history of successfully funded research and relevant clinical practice;
  • Licensed by the South Dakota Board of Nursing or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse as evidenced by current licensure in another state;
  • Hold a national and/or international reputation for scholarship in Indigenous and rural health, community engaged research, and interdisciplinary approaches that inform health policy, strengthen educational practices, and improve population health outcomes, and/or aligned areas of value that will advance the strengths of the college.
  • Experience developing collaborative partnerships across academic, government, industry, and nonprofit sectors;
