Avera Health is seeking a skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide safe, compassionate anesthesia care across a variety of surgical and procedural settings, collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and clinical staff. Responsibilities include patient assessment, anesthesia planning, induction, maintenance, and post-anesthesia management. Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality anesthesia care for surgical, procedural, and obstetric patients across a broad range of specialties.
- Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthesia assessments, including medical history review, physical examination, and risk evaluation.
- Develop and implement individualized anesthesia care plans in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other members of the care team.
- Administer general, regional, monitored anesthesia care, and sedation using evidence-based techniques and current clinical guidelines.
- Continuously monitor patients' vital signs, depth of anesthesia, and physiologic status, making timely adjustments to medications and support as needed.
- Manage airway and ventilation, including intubation, use of supraglottic devices, and ventilator management.
- Provide perioperative pain management, including regional blocks and post-anesthesia analgesia strategies when credentialed and appropriate.
- Respond promptly to anesthesia-related and perioperative emergencies, including hemodynamic instability, airway compromise, and code situations.
- Ensure accurate, timely documentation of anesthesia care, medications, assessments, and patient responses in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in pre- and post-operative patient education, addressing questions and ensuring patients and families understand anesthesia plans and recovery expectations.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, nurses, pharmacists, and ancillary staff to support coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Adhere to Avera Health policies, regulatory standards, and professional practice guidelines to promote safety, quality, and compliance.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical protocol development, and patient safety projects within the anesthesia service line.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, including continuing education, skills enhancement, and participation in peer review or morbidity and mortality discussions.
