We are recruiting for a full time, Aberdeen based Radioactive Substances Specialist on a permanent basis

Responsibilities- Regulate radioactive substances activities under Environmental Authorisations Scotland Regulations 2018, including the assessment and determination of applications.
- Undertake inspections to evaluate compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Progress proportionate enforcement action when necessary, in line with SEPA's enforcement policies to secure compliance and protect the environment.
- Communicate and engage confidently with a wide range of operators, stakeholders, experts and other regulators on matters relating to radioactive substances.
- Work in a specialist regulatory team and regulate a varied range of sites located primarily in the NE of Scotland, including offshore facilities in the North Sea, requiring travel to offshore locations.
- Relevant scientific degree or relevant equivalent experience.
- Good experience working with radioactive substances or in radiation protection.
- Knowledge of the legislative framework covering radioactive substances both nationally and internationally.
- Knowledge of the oil and gas sector and the ability to travel to offshore facilities (training can be provided).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
