Event Staff/ Venue Crew, Installation Technician
Role
The Operations Technician plays a key role in delivering events safely, efficiently and to the highest standards across the venue. Working as part of the Operations team, you will be responsible for the set‑up, maintenance and breakdown of event spaces, ensuring all facilities, equipment and infrastructure are prepared to meet client requirements. This hands‑on role supports a diverse range of events and requires a proactive approach, strong teamwork and a commitment to delivering an outstanding customer experience while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and reset event halls, meeting rooms and arena spaces to meet event specifications.
- Assist with the construction and installation of temporary and permanent seating systems.
- Construct staging systems and event infrastructure for a variety of events.
- Undertake rigging activities, following training and authorisation requirements.
- Build shell scheme and bespoke exhibition stands both on‑site and off‑site as required.
- Interpret and work from scaled drawings and event plans.
- Operate forklifts, access platforms and scaffolding equipment when appropriately trained and certified.
- Ensure operational equipment is regularly checked, maintained and PAT tested.
- Carry out routine maintenance of venue buildings and equipment.
- Identify and report defects, faults and maintenance issues promptly.
- Support venue cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Follow all health, safety and operational procedures.
- Assist with public safety management during events.
- Administer first aid where qualified.
- Respond efficiently to client and event organiser requirements.
- Safeguard company property, assets and equipment.
- Support the successful delivery of all events and day‑to‑day venue operations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Customer‑focused approach with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when required.
- Commitment to health, safety and safe working practices.
- Ability to undertake physical work and manual handling activities.
- Experience in a similar operations, events or venue‑based role.
- Forklift Truck Licence.
- IPAF Licence.
- First Aid qualification.
- Health & Safety qualification.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience working within an events, exhibition, arena or conference venue environment.
