The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Dentist for the Stafford Creek Corrections Center (SCCC) located in Aberdeen, WA. The Dentist will provide comprehensive dental care to incarcerated individuals and support the health services mission of the Department.

- Review patients’ medical conditions and consult with other providers.
- Perform oral examinations, record dental conditions, and evaluate gum and bone health.
- Diagnose dental conditions, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, perform periodontal treatments, and administer local anesthetic.
- Provide routine dental care and urgent care treatments, including surgical extractions, endodontics, periodontics, restorative, and operative dentistry within facility limits.
- Determine extent of patient cooperation and amount of services in accordance with the WA DOC Health Plan.
- Extract teeth, remove cavities, prepare teeth for fillings, and insert filling materials such as amalgam and resin.
- Coordinate care with contract dentists and denturists and refer patients for specialist care as necessary.
- Prepare reports regarding dental work and patient health and maintain accurate patient and administrative records.
- Actively participate in the Dental Care Review Committee (CRC).
- Delegate clinical duties to dental assistants and hygienists in accordance with WA State laws.
- Participate in department training, continuing education, and the Coordinated Quality Improvement Process (CQIP) including monitoring quality indicators for patient care and clinic operations.
- Assist in emergency assignments such as security during disturbances, civil disturbances, or natural disasters; assist the Trauma/Emergency Medical Team as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of Health Services and safety and security.
- Valid, unrestricted Washington State license to practice dentistry.
- Unrestricted DEA registration to prescribe controlled substances.
- Two years of clinical experience in dentistry.
- Experience with medical/dental records, including documentation and terminology.
- Knowledge of scheduling routine and special dental procedures and patient visits.
- Proficiency with computer applications related to dental practice.
