Construction Trades Apprenticeship Prep Instructor

Grays Harbor College is looking for a talented, dedicated, equity-minded, full-time temporary faculty member to teach and lead the Construction Trades Apprenticeship Prep (CTAP) program located at Stafford Creek Correction Center (SCCC) campus. Faculty in industrial technology programs are responsible for teaching industry standards and practices, establishing educational and professional pathways for students, collaborating to shape and develop the program, and promoting career and technical programs to local school districts, community organizations, and industry stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about the latest standards and practices in building trades technology (drywall, roofing, and siding) and related industry and can revise the curriculum accordingly. Additional faculty responsibilities include instructional shop maintenance and development, equipment maintenance, supply management, academic student advising, outcomes assessment, committee work, community outreach, accreditation requirements, and other duties as assigned. The instructor will also be required to attend a 6-week Correctional CORE Worker Training, sponsored by the Department of Corrections.

The position will begin in October 2026.

The Department of Corrections contracts with Grays Harbor College to provide educational services for offenders. This position is located at Stafford Creek Corrections Center (SCCC), an adult male prison. Although safeguards are implemented to protect staff, this work will be performed inside a corrections facility where the potential for violence exists. Applicants for this position must be able to pass an N.C.I.C. background check and be cleared to work in a prison.

This is a full-time temporary position (not to exceed 2 years). The placement on the salary schedule for 214 Day Contract will be determined by education and experience at the time of hire. • Teach building and construction trades technology and related courses maintaining a course load of no more than 20 credit hours per quarter.
• Introduction to a variety of different building trades. Orient students to the objectives of the program, learning outcomes and assessment methods.
