Oceaneering is a global provider of engineered services and products, primarily to the offshore energy industry. We develop products and services for use throughout the lifecycle of an offshore oilfield, from drilling to decommissioning. We operate the world's premier fleet of work class ROVs. Additionally, we are a leader in offshore oilfield maintenance services, umbilicals, subsea hardware, and tooling. We also use applied technology expertise to serve the defense, material handling, aerospace, science, and renewable energy industries.
Aboutthe Team
Our Manufactured Products group offers several world-class global manufacturing facilities serving multiple industries including energy, material handling, and entertainment ride systems. We have decades of experience in engineering, design, testing and qualification of hardware for any specification, including subsea umbilicals, junction plates, distribution units, termination assemblies, clamps, flanges, and more. For the material handling industry, we produce safe, reliable, and flexible mobile robotics solutions.
For the entertainment industry, we deliver innovative ride systems engineering and automated people mover vehicles.
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will ensure that our suppliers of custom engineered hardware are capable of consistently and reliably manufacturing/fabricating hardware to Oceaneering purchase orders via design drawings, specifications, and requirements with minimum oversight, inspection, or rework. The role supports Oceaneering Umbilical projects, programs, and development initiatives by providing technical input and guidance on; umbilical manufacturing techniques, Non‑Destructive Evaluation (NDE), materials, welding, machining, Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) reviews, First Article Inspection (FAI) development, assessing design manufacturability, clarification of specifications, understanding/application of Oceaneering Quality Codes, process enhancements, and improvements.
Lead Pre‑production meetings that mitigate supplier production risks in the early phase of manufacturing/fabrication. The role assures suppliers are in the best position to deliver our hardware/services with first‑time quality, thereby allowing for lower costs and on‑time delivery. This position works with suppliers to develop and implement best practices/supplier development that target defect prevention, variation, and waste.
Work with Engineering and Supply Chain Management (SCM) to define process and quality parameters criteria [Critical to Process (CTP) and Critical to Quality (CTQ)] to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet Oceaneering product, process, or service requirements.
Lead assessment, due‑diligence, communication, and mitigation of supplier risk for assigned area of supply (fabrication, machining, forging, casting).
Support SCM Category Management in establishing long‑term strategic supplier development plans to facilitate product roadmaps and risk prevention strategies pertaining to improving quality.
Lead cross‑functional teams in the qualification of suppliers of critical hardware/challenging engineering packages, through assessment of the suppliers’ manufacturing capability to fabricate and deliver our products/services.
Lead supplier development projects that assess supplier process capability, help achieve process stability through reduced variation, improve capability, availability, and performance.
Lead investigations or support supplier’s root cause analysis of complex manufacturing issues.
Utilize advanced quality practices and tools to analyze risks and systemic issues and transform supplier quality.
Perform supplier capability assessments/audits related to quality systems, process controls, and manufacturing capabilities.
Trend, monitor, and help improve supplier performance through elimination of variation/waste and reduction of COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality).
Manage the implementation and execution of supplier corrective action/preventive action plans.
Mentor and guide other Supplier Quality Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Project Engineers in supplier capability assessments and…
