Material Handler Operator

We are currently recruiting for a Material Handler Operator for our client, based in Aberdeen.

The Material Handler Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient handling, movement, sorting, and processing of ferrous and non-ferrous metals within the recycling facility. The role involves operating mobile plant equipment, maintaining a safe working environment, and ensuring materials are processed in accordance with company procedures and environmental standards.

• Operate mobile plant equipment including material handlers, loading shovels, forklifts, and other machinery as authorised and trained.
• Load, unload, sort, and move scrap metal materials throughout the site.
• Assist with the inspection and identification of incoming and outgoing metal products.
• Ensure materials are segregated and stored correctly to maximise operational efficiency and product value.
• Conduct daily pre-start checks and routine inspections of machinery and equipment.
• Report equipment defects, maintenance requirements, and safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of material movements and operational activities as required.
• Support loading and unloading of customer and supplier vehicles.
• Keep work areas clean, organised, and free from hazards.
• Follow all company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
• Participate in toolbox talks, training programmes, and safety initiatives.
• Assist with general yard duties as required.
