ECEAP Family Service Worker
The ECEAP Family Service Worker position is designed to provide a strong link between the home, school and community. The emphasis is in establishing a working relationship with families of enrolled children within ECEAP.
Primary Responsibilities/Duties:
- Support family activities to include: parent education, ECEAP Family Policy Council and family activities nights. Evening meetings and activities will occasionally be required.
- Plan, implement and document developmentally appropriate family focused visits with participating families.
- Cooperate with coworkers and local service delivery programs to ensure a team approach for assigned delivery of social, educational and health services to the enrolled families.
- Participate in the classroom process as directed and desired by individual preschool teachers.
- Maintain required documentation and prepare monthly and final reports for the supervisor.
- Assist with recruitment, enrollment and data collection as assigned.
- Assist families in identifying available community resources for social, educational and health needs.
- Collaborate with staff and parents to develop and implement activities for families with young children.
- Participate in regularly scheduled planning meetings to ensure coordinated services. Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/
Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four-year degree, preferably in Social Work, Education, Psychology or Counseling.
Certificates/Licenses:
- Current Washington State driver's license and good driving record.
- Access to reliable transportation.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with parents, staff, students and community.
- Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with all staff, students and community. Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours as assigned, maintains current knowledge in assigned field, and able to organize own time for work completion.
- Knowledge and experience working with community social services and resource agencies.
- Knowledge and understanding of state/federal laws and regulations regarding education and social services.
- Effective human relations and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Good language, grammar and math skills.
- Computer skills or ability to learn word-processing and spreadsheet programs.
- Ability to collect data and set up and maintain accurate filing system.
- Ability to attend to detail and follow task through to completion.
- Ability to organize and set priorities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and be flexible to meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems working a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Experience working with families with low economic-status.
- Desired effective characteristics include: flexibility, enthusiasm, willingness to develop relationships and willingness to learn new skills.
- Willingness to make home visits.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel and crouch; use hand to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The work is usually performed indoors.
